I would just say this, all FANS overvalue their teams players and prospects. Finding ANY common ground on this forum is almost impossible.
For instance using the Muzzin comparison, that would mean: 1st + Knies + Niemela which is just ridiculous. Both players have over performed their draft position and not even remotely close to Grundstrom and Durzi.
Who knows what GM’s value. They might look at a player on Team A that fans hate but they see a useful top six, faceoff, penalty killer, or whatever.
Long winded way of saying, NO IDEA 🤷♂️ lol
He’d be a great addition but unless there is retention there his cap hit complicates next year.
Lol yup fans definitely overrate their own players. That goes for all fanbases to be clear.
As for the Muzzin comparable, are Durzi and Grundstrom really equal to Knies and Neimela? Because I would have to think the latter 2>the former 2.
The last part is certainly a good point (and of course, whether there is retention or not changes the value). Who knows how it will turn out I guess.

Cost is Matthews + Nylander + Marner
Some trades I've seen are too much and others are extremely low
Muzzin trade is good comparison, but instead of 2 prospects, Devils would be targeting a solid young defensemen (or prospect). So first + prospect for Severson would be fair
But, the Devils don't really have a reason to trade Severson and they would want to keep him around long term. So it would take an overpayment to get him out of NJ this deadline.
If the Leafs desperately need a two-way puck moving defenseman (I doubt they do), then they should trade for Severson. If they want a cheap bottom 4 puck-moving defensemen, trade a 2nd + 4th (for extra retention) for Subban
LOL.
I'd say this is a good analysis. First+prospect seems fair to me. It also might make sense for the devils to hold on to him.
It's hard to know exactly what the leafs would want. Unlikely they want Subban, as he's not really a defense first guy. Severson is kind of in the middle so I'd want him long before Subban.
At the end of the day, it might be better to go another route.
