Everyone definitely costs way more. I'd think Jarnkrok and Motte start at a 3rd, and Fabbro starts with a 1st, not a bunch of guys that wants out

I think the price with Motte starts with a 3rd, and Jarnkrok a 2nd maybe

Does not matter, Boston has no need for either of them. Why waste draft capital on bottom 6 rentals when the bottom 6 is playing really well anyway.

Steen, Lazar, and Blidh have completed the lineup, trading for guys to replace them who are not an upgrade is pointless.

You can appreciate how Steen and Blidh have played without declaring that Jarnkrok, with 73 points in his last 138 games, is “not an upgrade” or that Motte, who blocks shots and forces turnovers better than any Bruins forward is this season is not useful depth. This is a losing mentality.

People so quick to just say things and not put any real thought into it. Motte “starts with a third” but it’s ludicrous that I’m offering a fourth? Jarnkrok “starts with a third” and “costs way more” even though I’m offering Olson, a 2019 third-round pick leading one of the NCAA’s best teams in scoring, Kuhlman, a proven NHL depth player, and a fifth rounder? Fabbro “costs way more” and “starts with a first” even though Nashville was trying to trade him last year and I’m offering DeBrusk, who is only two years older and has way more experience to a team that lacks scoring depth, and taking a buried contract off of a budget team’s payroll?

Steen and Blidh have a higner PPG this season than Jarnkrok. You are benching Steen who has been just as, if not more productive than the player you are giving up draft capital to obtain. Part of Boston’s problem with developing young talent and depleted farm system is their unwillingness to use them and replace them with veteran rentals.

Jarnkrok is a solid 3rd line 30 point FW that does nothing else. Does not hit anyone or block shots. Steen has 11 hits in 10 games compared to Calle’s 13 in 25. No, other than experience I don’t see it as an upgrade. If Steen falls off before the deadline then it’s a different story. But if he keeps producing it’s a waste of assets. And no Seattle does not take that deal. KK has no value, Olson is not likely an NHL caliber player. They can get a 2nd which at least has a chance of someone being useful. Something Boston’s farm system desperately needs.

There is nothing wrong with Jarnkrok. But this team is not in position to chase 3rd line rentals when they don’t need them.

In the end Nashville is not trading a top 4 RD who is locked in at $2.4M for next year for a top 9 LW they would have to qualify at over $4M for next season. If you check Nashville's depth chart or watched the game yesterday you can see they have plenty of cost controlled scoring depth on LW.
