Obviously room for movement with the picks. But trade based on these players.

Would love Shane Pinto but I don't think that would happen with docker.

Thanks. Probably unlikely but he's not untouchable.

Unless the Pens have replacement targeted he's completely untouchable.

That's really tough from a sens perspective. JBD looks like hes going to be a top 4 D and Formenton is coming off of 9 points in his last 10 games. I think I would say yes, ultimately, but could easily backfire.

Appreciate the input. I think it's a pretty fair trade as I think both sides would be somewhat hesitant to part with those guys. Canucks get speed in the middle 6 with Formenton and a potential top 4RHD. Ottawa gets a top line right handed winger to really solidfy a strong top 6 moving forward.

IMO untouchable gets thrown around way too often on forums. In reality there are very few untouchables.

You're right that they'd have to have a plan in place but maybe they have internet in a Klingberg, Manson, Lindholm, Miller etc.

And he's a RHD which we need. Would you consider Brannstrom instead of JBD? He's a leftie but can play either side. With Sanderson and Chabot on the left side long term, we need LHD much less.

Honestly I don't think it's the worst idea for them to do a complete tear down. They're not a bad team right now but I also don't think they're in a position to become a contender in 3 years without some drastic change.

In doing a tear down I'd be looking to trade Horvat and Miller but getting good young prospects rather than draft picks. Then you have a young group that Hughes, Petey, demko, Podz, Hog will grow into leading.

Not saying these guys would get moved but If you can pry away a guy like Rossi or boldy in a deal for Miller or Horvat
. Or you get a good young guy out of LA or wherever else.

Now you've got a team stocked with multiple talented young players to grow together.

Ya I figure that would be Ottawa's biggest hesitation in this deal. Canucks are in a similar situation and don't really need a LHD even if they can play the right side. If Boeser got traded I'd be surprised if there wasn't a RHD coming back.

Branny is actually listed as a RD on capfriendly, but the coach doesn't let him play on his off side despite him playing there his whole career.

I don't think Van should do that, would just be a waste of years of some good players on good contracts.

Also don't think anyone is giving their A-prospect for a Miller or Horvat so you're really not getting any further ahead.

Van has a lot of good pieces and a stud goalie, they need to keep adding and they'll get there, really just need Petey to get out of this funk more then anything.

I disagree on the Miller take. I think there are a lot or contenders around the league that would be willing to give up an A prospect for him. Horvat I'm less convinced about but Miller is a top tier player. PPG on a good deal for another season that can play C or W, PP, PK, and brings grit.

The sens trade is probably pretty close to fair if not right hon the button. Personally I think I wouldn’t pull the trigger if I was Ottawa. Would be tough to give JBD and Forms up given how they’ve looked so far this year. Even the 2nd is likely to be late 30’s so very early this year.

If the 2nd was moved to 2023 I think I’d be more willing but the biggest hesitation for me personally is the fact that Boeser is a RFA after this season. The uncertainty with that next contract would likely cause Dorion go hesitate. Might need to be a situation like Stone where the deal is negotiated before the trade goes through.

Also as an aside this trade return would be significantly better than the Stone return of Brannstrom & a late 2nd which is unfortunate.

Even if the pens did want to trade Marino, it would be for a lot more than that weak return lol

Yes, really tough from a sens perspective... Formenton has been fantastic and showing why people like me have been very high on him for years, despite "any kind of NHL production"... That's the problem a lot of people have when evaluating a player by opening their hockeydb page

I'd want Boeser and the value is fair with how proven he is but Forms is just too hard to give up. Players like him and Connor Brown are players who have to be kept, part of your core. They're never going to be too expensive but they are crucial to team success.
