Really liked Samberg

Description
Apparently, Lowry (and before that Maurice) like 2 things that Stanley brought to the lineup in particular: his physicality and his penalty killing. Well, in his first game, Samberg did both better. Im not a betting man, but I have a feeling Samberg might have stolen the spot by the time Stanley comes back.

Also, as a side note, chisholm was great. Still more he can learn in the AHL, but great strides from him.

Perfetti should get a few more looks before a decision is made. I didn’t like his start, but he finished the game strong.

If Samberg works out, would you be interested in trading Stanley? If so, what would you want for him? I would love to see a big defensive guy on the oilers. Since we lost Larsson, we haven’t really had that very good PK defensive guy. Keith is a defensive defence man, but he is getting a little slow and old, so it’s hard for him.

What I will never understand is why the Jets with LHD prospects Stanley, Henolia and Samberg decied to get not only LHD Dillon but Schmitt as well, each with alot of term left. both at the time confused me and both still do too. If you dont move Henolia up soon it will defenitly stunt his development

I 100% agree. However, Schmidt can play both sides and is solid value for what we gave (and the Dillon trade came first). Heinola should be up next year, he will benefit from playing 24 mins a night in the AHL for this year, but after that, he’s done all he can in the ahl. The jets will need to make room for a guy who will probably quickly become our best d-man

Yes, Stanley would probably be moved. I think the jets would be interested in either a good big rd prospect who is still a couple of years away, or in a package for a top 6 rw.

That being said, I think from the Canadiens, Stanley and a 2nd for a guy like toffoli? I don’t see anything of interest in the Canadiens prospect pool tbh.

From the oilers, probably a pick since they don’t have what the jets would want. A mid-high second would probably make sense. So Stanley for the oilers 2022 2nd.

Also, as a side note, Stanley isn’t fast or quick. He’s fast/quick enough to play in the nhl, but if you’re looking for speed, you probably aren’t going to find it in a guy who is 6’7”. He makes up for it with his long reach and mean streak though. I think he is an effective penalty killer who has potential to be a top 4 guy, but Samberg is simply better (or will be if he isn’t yet).

That much? Wow I didn’t think his value is that high. Thank you for telling me. There’s no one you like out of the prospect pool? That’s an interesting trade, and I would definitely have to think about it if I was GM, but we need a good defence man fast! He is so cheap, so I think if I was GM I would probably move some assets for him.

I meant to write 2022 2nd, not 1st, cause I don’t think any team would give a 1st for him. My bad, went back and fixed it. But yeah, will take a decent amount. I mean, the jets don’t want long term guys anymore. Either draft picks which they can flip easily for help now or good prospects in an area of need (rd). The list is pretty short on what the jets need long term tbh

There has to be at least one stupid GM that would give up a first. If Jim Benning was in the league I'm sure he would trade a first for Stanley.
