Not terrible but I do feel like other teams could beat it. Depends on the sharks valuation of Robertson I guess

the ideal part of this deal is there is no way they resign him so the sharks get a 1st a good prospect and a reclamation project and in the summer they get hertl’s back!!!!

It's just a 3rd round pick, but Minnesota will not give it up for a player not needed, and would be waiver fodder

Yeah that's like half of Severson's value, especially if Devils are retaining for 2 yrs.
Think you'd have to add one of Knies, Amirov or Niemelä to make fair value.

Then what do you think makes him “so bad”

Because I watch him and every game and he’s good

He looks to me like he can't defend. I see him on the ice for a lot and I mean A LOT of goals against. I'll admit that his offensive numbers are still decent, as he is known for being an offensive D-man, and I'm not calling Severson a negative asset by any means, he does play a lot of minutes too, but I just don't see the risk reward factor with him being something other teams are going to be willing to give up too much for

Hell no, both Ekman-Larsson and Myers are better than Severson right now. What the heck are you smoking?

Keep in mind Severson was pushed down the depth chart because of the Dougie Hamiltion signing

I know, but if he's as good as people say he is, than he should still be playing ahead of Subban

He definitely can defend. He had the highest xGAR at one point in the season (can't find the most recent list). He logs a lot of minutes on a bad Devils team which is why his +/- isn't the best.

Oh, I think New Jersey would be a better team if your claims were accurate, but that's not the case

I'm not saying you are never going to convince me, but I'm still seeing too much contrasting evidence to get on board

Claims were accurate? Idk how you would blame Severson for the Devils being bad defensively.

There's also a lot of contrasting evidence about players such as Marner. Some fans hate him, some fans love him. Kinda similar with Severson. Just because people say he's bad doesn't mean they're right. At least I provided evidence. He is on pace for 30+ points as a two-way defenseman on a great contract. Some Devils fans don't like him because he takes dumb penalties and makes careless turnovers

Okay then, you're making some progress in convincing me that Severson is very much a marquis defenseman, I take it he doesn't consistently do those two things and Severson haters way overblow the occasional mistakes he makes
