Description
At this point of the season it’s already well established that Makar is Colorado’s best player, he is without a doubt their #1 franchise star for years to come. Nathan Mackinnon can no longer say he deserves that status. In-fact, Nazem Kadri has outplayed Nathan Mackinnon in Nathans own top line position. Which goes to further assert that Makar is their #1, and Kadri has given himself a strong case to be their #2, Mackinnon has been sidelined for a portion of the season, but Colorado has proven to be lethal with or without Mackinnon. The biggest reason for that is Cale Makar. However, this team will not win a championship unless they trade for a Patrick Roy. With that said, Marc Andre-Fleury can be your Patrick Roy, and he would be the final piece of the puzzle for a cup winning team. However, as strong as Kadri’s game is right now. He is 30 years old, and he is not you’re future #1 centre. Colorado will need to get a #1 centremen that is not too expensive, you don’t want to pay another player upwards of 9 million, you’d rather get a player that will sign for closer in the range of 6 million. This way, Colorado can retain their impres depth. Instead of dumping it on signing Mackinnon for $10,000,000+/yr

This is ridiculous. MacKinnon is 26 has another year on the best contract in the league and is 4th in the league in PPG. Kadri is having a career year and has feasted on his teammates. I mean seriously MacKinnon for Fluery Dach and 1st what a joke.

Uh, I watch Dach every night and I feel less and less comfortable with him every game that goes by. I truly believe they stunted his growth and they should've gave him one more year of Junior after his draft year.

Knowing the Blackhawks organization, he might not be with them in the long run. Even with Bowman out, I don't trust them. Reichel looks better, a lot better.

Ballsy post but the claim that MacKinnon isn't a 1C is laughable. If you think Fleury is the Avs Patrick Roy, he can be had for a lot less and the Avs will be much better with Mac than without him.

What im saying is that Mackinnon is not their #1, Cale Makar is their #1, and they’re better off with a more cost effective 1C and a Patrick Roy.

I feel like that's a weird thing to say; there are lots of teams that have a #1 forward, a #1 D and a #1 G. Look at Tampa; it's Kucherov, Hedman and Vasy. Saying that the Avs should trade Mac because, in your opinion, he's not the #1 guy is like saying Tampa should trade one of Hedman or Kuch so they only have one true #1.

Like I said, they can get Fleury without giving up Mac; there is no reason to trade Mac and they're better with him than without him. In fact, he's cheaper than Suzuki for next season. Also, Suzuki is not a 1C; he may be played there by Montreal but that's because they don't have a true #1.

That’s weird of you to say because I was thinking that Colorado would win that trade. Kirby Dach, a high upside rfa top 6 player. A 1st round pick that could easily end up being Bedard or Michkov, or another top 6 at the very least, and if that alone isn’t enough for a ufa player that is looking for a 100% pay raise. Colorado is also getting the final piece of the puzzle for a Stanley Cup team. Marc Andre-Fleury.
The only thing that Chicago is getting is one measly season of Nathan Mackinnon, who almost certainly wouldn’t re-sign with them anyway.

This is just more silliness. First off, this series of trades ends up with Suzuki, not Dach, in Denver and that 1st ends up in Montreal with Dach. So, the Avs would end up with Suzuki and MAF while Chicago gets MacKinnon and Montreal gets Dach and Chicago's 1st. If MAF is the "missing piece" (a claim, not a fact) then just go get MAF; if he wants to be traded, he can probably be had for a 2nd or 3rd and a decent prospect. The team is better with Mac and he has 1 more year left at $6.3M so no need to trade him away. This trade - and the claim that Makar is now the #1 in Colorado so it's fine if Mac leaves - is bizarre and counterproductive to the Avs winning the Cup.

Looking back at it, you’d also be trading for Conor Bedard too. Chicagos 2023 first round pick. Colorado would’ve easily won this trade looking back now.
