He can leave college at any point and become a FA, even after this year. Pretty sure it’s since he was 20 when he was drafted.

Maybe if Vesalainen was a true center Detroit might do this. It is a late 2nd but it's still a 2nd rd pick and I just can't see them using it on a winger when they don't need another winger now.

He's already one of your best players, Scoring his 9th and 10th goal against his hometown Detroit team. he's worth every bit what i said. Pretty sure Yzerman would offer him that much to bring him home. he can play both #2C and #3C and pretty much play anywhere in the lineup.

I’m not saying he’s not worth that money. I’m saying the jets don’t have that money to give him. It’s the sad part about being a cap team. He’s an important player for us, but giving him that kind of money will lead to complications in signing guys like heinola, Samberg, and perfetti long term. And also resigning schiefele, Connor, ehelrs and gang in a few years
