Assuming the CAP goes up 1M, and they can unload Nemeth...they are still in CAP hell....about 10M to sign Kakko, Strome, Blais, and a b/u goalie. Not to mention Gautier and Rooney. For this reason, I doubt NYR can make a move for a player w/ term....only a pure rental is a move which makes sense- but I wouldn't pay more than a 2022 2nd and 2023 3rd for a player certain to be gone upon opening of UFA signings

Deal from Montreal, I think it's a lot to give from NYR but with the depth you guys have at RD it makes sense to deal Lundkvist.

This reasoning makes sense, but wouldnt a player far below his value be a good thing to add? Find the $2-3M to cut elsewhere? (as someone mentioned, Habs could retain more, if this is the player they choose to retain on with term.

unless they move Chytl or walk away from Strome, not really too many options to save 2-3M...and either of these decisions- while helping the wing situation, would open a big hole in the mid 6 C situation. Not to mention, it would make the optics of the Buch trade look even worse.

I dig it. Just need Montreal to retain 50% to make the cap a little easier next year.
