How do you resign Bergeron when McAvoy gets his 4 mill raise?

Well it’s quite simple really. In general, a number 2 d man shouldn’t be traded for a 2C. It’s just a more important position. Now, the argument could be made that Scheifele is not your standard 2C, and that’s very fair.
On the other hand, Carlo just turned 25, and is locked in on a long term, super team friendly contract. That’s not to say that that Scheifele’s contract isn’t good, as it certainly is. However he turns 29 in a couple months, and there’s been a noticeable decline in play over the last three years.

Odds are you’re giving up the prime of carlo at a steep discount for a year or two of a really good 2C, and then the ghost of Mark Scheifele moving forward.
Furthermore, it just disrupts the organization. One of the major strengths of this team is the right side of the blue line. In a must win game McAvoy and Carlo could probably take up 55 minutes between them (Carlo certainly isn’t playing anywhere near 25 right now, but it looks to me like the bruins are really trying to distribute minutes based on the anticipated ridiculously cramped schedule they have to finish out the season). The right side of this team is McAvoy, and then junk. The blue line stinks. It’s robbing peter to pay paul.

*4.6, but bergeron likely sees his cap number go down.

Maybe today. But one player looks to be on the way up, and the other kinda seems like he’s been declining for a couple years.

I often repost as you are now to generate a conversation.
What did you think of the Pysyk trade.
As a Sabre fan I would jump of joy to receive that sort of return.
Senyshyn was the third time Sweeny passed on Barzal.
That has to rank as one of the worse oversights in draft history.

I like pysyk I’m sure Buffalo will look to move him. I look at him getting a similar package to what Mike Reilly got last year maybe a little less as Reilly I think was leading Dmen in assist last year. Would fit well as a 3Rd pair Dman with Boston or a 7th dman

I completely agree, thank you for providing your thoughts.
Probably a fourth, but if RHD are slim pickin's then he may return a third.
After Hall signed with Buffalo, I thought he would have been a great pick up last year as he actually played RW with Florida the previous year.
He could have been the fourth RW or 7th defenseman as Buffalo had Jokiharju, Miller and Montour at RHD.
But Krueger decided that Skinner should not play with Eichel and the season fell apart, so it did not matter.
