The trades I referenced, Dillion specifically, had half retention and only got a 2nd and 3rd. I really don’t see him returning a 1st

Even worse, Patrik Nemeth's contract is only a little more than half of Tyler Toffoli's contract.
Would you want Filip Chytil if you took Nemeth's contract too? That's where I think the salary *could* work for us, but I've still never pulled off an ACGM with someone like Toffoli.

I don't understand how that Edmonton trade is good value? You got a goalie who is a good back up and fringe starter. He has alright numbers for his entire career on what I think is a fair contract for him. Along with a bottom six winger who is over paid in terms of bottom six wingers, with a big qualifying offer. Take Bourgault out and that's fair value. A second for Allan and as third floor Lehkonen is pretty good value, taking back koskinen doesn't add anything it just makes the money work.

I’d say his package was at most 2 1sts and a 2nd. Vitali Kravtsov is worth no more than a high second even though Chris Drury is asking for a 1st.

Meanwhile, I think Toffoli is worth closer to two 1sts than he is to neither a 1st & 2nd nor two 1sts and a 2nd.

Kravtsov isn't 1st round caliber anymore he is 2nd round.
