Kylington has established himself as a legitimate top 4 dman in the NHL. He likely wont be as good as Chychrun but he is still a more than capable player and definitely worth a 1st. The above trade for the most part does correspond with the reported ask of a young NHLer, top prospect, and a 1st. Also while being around 3 1sts in value. Maybe replace Valimaki with Zary? Either way I dont see Calgary as a team in on Chychrun but if they were Kylington would have to be a core piece in the return

Kylington is scoring at a 50 point pace in his first year in a top 4 role and is only 24 years old. He's always had a high ceiling.
Chychrun is a great player but i'd rather keep the assets and see what we have in Kylington.

Good luck coming on this website and arguing about Kylington, it's like a cult! Over half of his points are secondary assists, he still isn't great defensively but he has eliminated most of the home run errors that were plaguing him. That's what has allowed him to be a serviceable D man with one of the best defensive D men in the league. Eye test and surface level analysis would tell you he's worth a first round pick right now, NHL scouting departments and GM's are significantly smarter on their worse day than everyone combined on this website on our best days, Kylington has turned himself into a serviceable defenseman, that's about it at this point.

When it comes to whether or not a dman is first pair, ya. Minutes played is miles more important than points. Look at Barrie. Led the league in points last year for d men didn’t he? No one in their right mind would say he’s a top pair guy. Bottom pair PP specialist that everyone in edmonton desperately wants to get rid of. Points are a very very poor indicator of a defensemens performance. How much his coach is willing to put him on the ice? Ya, that matters.
