Holloway is pretty much untouchable. Poolman is a significant downgrade from Murphy, but JT Miller would be a huge add. I think these trades favor the hawks too much and most teams decline.

Canucks decline if they trade Miller they'd want a high-end RD prospect included or someone younger like Marino

at this point i think edmonton needs to be open to all possibilities. Theres two players on the team that arent going anywhere and i guess three if you wanna throw Nurse in there with his new contract, aside from that though everything should be explored.

It is very easy to see holloway being a blake coleman or zach hyman type player they really shouldn't trade him at all.

thats great if thats what he can turn into, but gonna suck when hes the number one forward on the team as a (hyman type) and all he has to play with is Hyman cuz Mcdavid leaves after having to carry that team with no support. If theres any team in the league right now that should be willing to part with any player on the roster aside from the two big forwards in Edmonton.

Holloway could turn into a very solid forward no question there. But they should be in win now mode, gonna have to give up value to give them a chance to win, and with basically no cap space going to cost even more as they will need to move out some contract too.

They can't be so scared to lose mcdavid that they trade all their prospects to try to win everything this year. That is what they did in 2017 and 2018 and it started a second rebuild. Even if they win the cup this year they wont be able to ice a team without NHL tweeners on the second line if they mortgage their entire future. If they are looking at a 3rd rebuild mcdavid is gone anyway.

A late 1st round pick doesn't replace Holloway and as such, Hawks would decline this is my guess.

you cant compare this to 2017, Hall and eberle were not McDavid-Draisaitl, not even remotely close. And if you arent going to go all in the best player in the world and a second player whose top 5, then what is the point? Its not about being scared to lose mcdavid, its about having two of the top 5 players on your roster for the next four years and trying to find a way to win with them.
