          2022 NHL Entry Draft deal

A complete shot in the dark. Both top-6 centers have underperformed recently. Seguin is obviously the better of the two, but his contract is also far riskier. If Calgary is looking to contend in the near future they'd need an established 1C, and a change of scenery for the latter part of Seguin's career would likely favor it over staying in a rebuilding team.

my personal favorite is the islanders deal.

Krav deal makes sense. I like the motivation behind the Calgary trade. MTL trade probably isn't necessary but is fair.

I think the Pavelski return is a bit ripe, as is the Washington trade for Radulov, but otherwise the trades are close enough or go to logical places and makes for a good and reasonable build. Obviously not all these trades happen, but individually any one or two of them make sense.

That’s an easy no for COL, but Faksa would be worth talking about.

Canes pass. You might be able to get Drury for Pavelski, but not with a 1st, even retained. A 37-year-old rental won't command that type of return. You're looking at no pick and leaving Gardiner, or a FAR lesser prospect. Perhaps someone like Ponomarev, Blake, Orr. Even multiple of those likely won't be out of the question, but Carolina is likely going to keep the 1st, especially taking a future 1st unprotected.

Depends how good player he is. As a rental his age shouldn't matter, it's not like it'd hinder or be a burden for you in the long-term.

I tend to agree that Drury+1st for Pavs is a bit overpayment so I added Gardiner as a cap dump to the exchange. Imo that'd justify the return.

In any case, a first would have to come DAL's way, and preferably an unprotected one. Canes just don't have a 2022 pick to offer.

Be interested to hear how Dallas fans value him myself. I'm with Xqb that he'd be of interest, but not really sure on value.

Well you can see how I valued him in the earlier Habs trade. I think a low 2nd, early third would suffice, or a prospect equivalent to that, alongside a cap dump assuming COL is lacking in cap space.

No more than a 4th/5th round pick I'm guessing, but I'm not a Dallas fan. What I do know is that Faksa has not performed well over this season or the last since his contract extension kicked in, so maybe even less. I don't think he's at the point of being a negative asset, but his trade value isn't very high

Then there's no deal to be made. Teams fall off all the time, (NYI) trading NEXT years first would just be dumb. Also considering the Canes have traded 2 first round picks (moving down in the draft doesn't count) since 2006. Gardiner, if he's healthy, likely takes Cole's place. He's out for this year, but he's got value if he's healthy next year. If he's not healthy, he's some cap relief they can throw on LTIR.

For Pavelski, I think both of these are too much for Carolina's interest. The best offer you'd likely get is Carolina's 2nd next year, the Chicago 3rd this year, and Nybeck, Blake, Gustlisov... prospects of that caliber.

Yeah, definitely no then. I don't see DAL having interest moving almost a PPG player for such garbage. Some other team very likely will pay an appropriate amount.

I'd do that Faksa trade if Harris doesn't matter show interest in signing.

Signing Robertson to that deal would be such a steal

I’m not a fan of the Radulov deal here. It is better value than some other trades for him I’ve seen, but I don’t think Radulov is the right person the Caps should go for. Yeah it’s another Russian, but the Top 6 is pretty much set in stone once Mantha returns, and I don’t see Radulov on the first line due to how well Wilson plays with Kuzy and Ovi.

If I’m Washington, I’m instead looking for possibly a 4th liner (Hagelin needs to be chucked into the sun at this point, not even his PK skills can save him), though I would not be surprised if Washington stands pat at the deadline, and chooses to replace liabilities like Hagelin with interior options, such as Leason or Protas.

Faksa is available. What do you consider a fair return?

Ok I won’t low ball you thoughts on Behren’s and a draft pick for Faksa w/$500k retained?

Not a huge fan of retaining on a player with several years left on his contract, and LHDs aren't exactly a need either. We'd prefer RHD or RW prospect.

Retention could be run through a 3rd team, what about Kaut, though in all honesty part of the appeal for Faksa for me is a mentoring role to Kaut whom I’m I still think is a solid NHLer with upside. Thoughts on Jost?

Have you considered trading John to a non playoff team that would want to sign him to 8 years? Ottawa received a lot from Karlsson, why not give some developed youth and a protected 1st for Klingberg.

I like Raffl and Faksa. I’m not a fan of either trade.

Come on man, Faksa has sucked ever since he signed his current contract kicked in

Jost and Kaut are both fine imo.

I haven't since it seems rather unlikely that
          a) they'd want to spend assets on Klingberg
          b) Klingberg would want to re-sign there

Yeah, definitely no then. I don't see DAL having interest moving almost a PPG player for such garbage. Some other team very likely will pay an appropriate amount.

If you think that is garbage, you need to go and educate yourself and quickly.

Compared to Pavelski and what other teams likely will offer it's certainly garbage.

          😂😂😂😂😂

Alright, you just proved to me beyond all doubt that your knowledge of prospects is awful. Have a good day.

          🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Calling Nybeck, Gus, and Blake garbage... that's going to make me laugh for a long time.

At least one of us here is entertained with your ideas, but I know you tend to be rather biased.

I had a whole essay typed out to correct you, but I can't be bothered because I know you're not exactly one to admit when you're wrong, like you are now. So have a good day.

I still can't believe you called Gus, Blake and Nybeck garbage 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
