McDavid makes BUF a FA destination. That trade would probably be amazing for you guys but I get the hesitation of moving 5 1sts.. it’s how we felt about injured Eichel

But many were calling for this type of deal. None of those guys are worth less than a 1st and most are more than a 1st. So ya, we obviously felt similar about moving them. Anyways, I was more focused on how McD would make you BUF a destination for FA which you can’t value with picks. I couldn’t care what the package consisted of but it’s not that far off. Should be values of 6 1sts+ for those 2. You’re welcome to negotiate the package with the OP

3.) Power and dahlin are each worth more than 1 first. Our 2022 1st will likely be top 5, that's worth more than a generic 1st

We should just keep amassing young talent. Gutting our core for McDavid isn't going to make us better in the long term... at the same time, there's no way Edmonton touches this deal, or any deal involving McDavid. At the end of the day this is a business and selling McDavid merch / prime TV has vaulted Edmonton into the top-10 in terms of franchise value. They aren't giving that up for anything, nor should they.

For as great as McDavid is I can't see the Sabres making a trade like this...they are better off following the course they set and accumulate young talent. This trade puts the Sabres back at square one, same situation as with Eichel and McDavid will want out sooner rather than later.
There is no way they part with both Power and Dahlin in any trade, I would say Dahlin goes before they ever think of trading Power.
