as an oilers fan i am 100% for connor Brown. Great b6 option for the oilers and makes kassian that much more expendable

I thought Zub was part of the Sens' long term plans - isn't he your top-pairing RD? He's got another year on his deal, too.

I'm not complaining, just curious.

if Zub is available (assuming thats bc Melynk wont want to pay him what hes worth in an extension), I hope the avs come calling. Brown as well, that would be one stop shopping for the Avs TDL

That trade just simply makes no sense for the Pens. It addresses no needs at all.

zub isn't going anywhere

if we trade c brown to edmonton, i'd expect the return to be at least a 1st+lavoie (we'd retain half)

probably too much for tierney and j brown, i'd value them at roughly a 3rd and 7th respectively, if you took out blomqvist i'd be thrilled with that return, taking out legare as well would be pretty fair though (could retain half on tierney, and then maybe add legare back in)

1. Not enough for Connor Brown.

2. We are not trading Artem Zub to the Leafs until he becomes a pending UFA and we're out of contention.

3. Pittsburgh declines.

Pittsburgh declines. Giving too much up for Tierney (even with retention) and Brown likely doesn’t move the needle.

I don’t think Ottawa has any intention of moving a Zub. If they did move him I would hope it wasn’t up the highway in Toronto. Even if they did, a low 1st would be a little disappointing.

A 2nd for two playoff runs and a chance at resigning Brown would also be very disappointing.

A 2nd and a couple decent prospects isn’t enough? I’d take their first as well but that’s about what we’d get for him.

I’m not for trading Zub based on anything other than he’s worth a 1st and this team still has a lot of work to do before we are where we want to be. I don’t want to lose him as a UFA

I can’t think of any reason for Pittsburgh to decline that trade. It doesn’t take anyone off their roster and it only adds depth to them for a playoff run

I’m afraid of losing Zub for nothing. This team does dumb things and that wouldn’t shock me. Brown is absolutely worth a 1st and one prospect or a 2nd and two prospects. Either is a fair return for us.

I really think Tierney as a third line centre would benefit Pittsburgh. They could bump Carter over to RW and play him with Malkin when he returns. Josh Brown isn’t anything special but most teams need a depth guy who’s a RHD, which is why I think he’s worth a 6th rounder at the very least

c brown's worth a 1st and good prospect for sure. This offer was a 2nd and two irrelevant prospects lol (they both have only 3 points in 17 AHL games and both turn 23 in a month. Kemp is at least a defensive defenseman, but I don't see him being more than a josh brown type at best, which we can find a million of in free agency. Safin's production just isn't there). And yeah for tierney and j brown, a couple picks would be fine. Getting Blomqvist would be cool but I doubt it happens. If j brown can return a 6th then that'd be cool, should be able to get that or a 7th for him from someone looking for depth. Tierney is a guy that some teams may value more than others, so if pittsburgh thinks that they would prefer carter at RW and want to bring in a new 3C and would give up a 2nd or 3rd, or legare+pick then great, I just don't think we get all of those pieces, only probably 1 or 2 for tierney and a late pick for j brown.

1. For Connor Brown, Ottawa should have the courage to ask for what New Jersey got for Blake Coleman.

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/blake-coleman

That means a lottery protected 1st round pick and a prospect recently drafted in the 1st round.

2. For Artem Zub next year, you should want what Philly got for Ristolainen or what Columbus got for David Savard.

At the very least.

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/rasmus-ristolainen

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/david-savard

But because this is for this year instead of next year, I wouldn't be afraid to ask for more.

Also, we're trying to get Andrei Kuzmenko to sign with Ottawa and Zub is a former team-mate of his that came from the KHL at the same age.

If we sign Kuzmenko, then maybe we can get Zub to stick around instead of needing to sell him off for a lonely 1st round pick.

3. Pittsburgh is overpaying.

Tierney with retention is worth a 3rd and a 5th.

But Josh Brown for their best goalie prospect?

From one of the shallowest prospect pools in the league?

That doesn't sound right.

Yes exactly, and he's also asking for way too much. Maybe Anton Forsberg would makes sense for us.

Right now about the only Pens' need is an upgrade at back-up. Pens are pretty stacked with bottom-six depth, so maybe if there was a way to upgrade Zucker? That's not even an extreme need.

He should be.

Maybe the OP believes Dorion is completely incompetent (totally plausible)

If Zub was available, I'd want him to be traded differently, not for a late 1st round pick.

- What do you mean " couple decent prospects"? These guys wouldn't crack the Sens prospect pool top-20, not even close

And the current pool is FAR from being as strong as it was just 1 year ago (due to graduations and guys that we let go)

- Trading players like Zub and Brown is EXACTLY how you end up even further from "where we want to be"

Zub and Brown are the only 2 quality players over 25 y/o in the entire organization...

- Pittsburgh DECLINES this pretty hard because Tierney's value is AT MOST a 3rd round pick, like if half retained. Josh Brown has absolutely no value, maybe a 7th if we're lucky. No reason for them to add Blomqvist and Légaré
