I’d be quite happy with that Laine package. Not sure ANA does that, though. Giving up McTavish feels like a big ask for them. Plus, we already have a glut of Forwards coming in, and making room for Jones will be difficult. I’d rather have a D, or a younger guy who can be kept in the AHL for a bit.

I’m interested in taking a flyer on Brannstrom, but I don’t think Rosy is going anywhere anytime soon. Hometown kid wants to be here, and for a rebuilding team that has a reputation of losing free agents, that is important to them.

McTavish has looked excellent, no reason for them to do this

Love the idea of adding Laine, but not at the cost of McTavish.

No problem with the 1st going, especially if there's an extension worked out, but Drysdale, Zegras, and McTavish can't (and shouldn't) be on the table.

What are the Jackets biggest needs at this point?

Oof just imagine a line of Laine-Zegras-Terry. What a dream line.

Would you do 1st, Max Comtois and Axel Andersson,

I'd do that...probably need to go top 5 protected on the 1st, because you never know when this thing will fall apart, but yeah.

I'd imagine they'd probably want someone with a little bit higher upside than Axel though.

I don’t know how I feel about adding Laine tbh

I think to trade for him would be a little too costly for me and then I think what he will want for an extension will be as well. Don’t really want to sign anyone but until after we lock up Zegras Drysdale Terry and hopefully Comtois(as he turns it around🤞🏻) figure that will cost 20-25 a year for them probably

I love the idea of adding a Boeser to the mix but then would that be similar to Laine, expensive to trade for and extend? I’m not 100% sure — plus I think they could do the same for Z, a big winger that can score to pair with his unreal creativity

Just my little rant for the afternoon

With the team rebuilding, its (a) picks; and, (b) young, high-end prospects who can play in the AHL (i.e. are still waivers exempt). On the NHL squad, its high-end forwards and RD.

We are about to add Marchenko and Johnson next year, with Voronkov the year after. We have tons of middle/ bottom 6 guys we need to move on from, and make way for guys with legit top-6 talent.

Boqvist, Peeke, and Bean have been great on the RD, but not sure any of them have truly emerged as a 1D alongside Werenski.

A trade with ANA would be tough because, if I'm CBJ, I want to try and get a Drysdale or McTavish from them. Guys who, like you said, are probably untouchable. 1sts are great, but with the way ANA has been playing, not sure it'll end up being terribly high.

Yeah, I just love the idea of replacing a Rakell long term with Laine (Or Boeser...). I think I'm less worried about re-signing Z/D/TT, because you're dropping the Rico/Silf contracts the following year.

Obviously this also potentially comes at the cost of upgrading the back end, but hey, Laine-Zegras-Terry laine (see what I did there! It already fits!) sounds wildly fun. Milano-Z-Laine, then pair TT with McTavish?

But yeah, it's all a bit of a stretch regardless.

Yeah I would agree. Forgot about the 11ish million that goes away

I do like TT with McTavish as it looks like he will ’replace’ Getzlaf on that laine(that was a good one!)

What are your thoughts on Milano? I think he is decent but without Z I am not convinced yet

This was just a fun little idea I had but would love something like this for the future landscape

I think he's the type of extremely skilled guy who can play with good players, but will vanish without that. Obviously a guy that *should* be upgraded, but a fine, cheap fit for now.
