Like it. I would have Moore up one tier, Colangelo up one tier and Pastujov down one tier, Tracey down one tier. Just my view.

Ducks have a solid group

I like it. Couple things though (my opinion obviously).

I would move down Sean Tschigerl one tier. His style of play fits a good bottom six role. Production has been solid but keep in mind, CHL competition isn’t as mature as NCAA so points can be deceiving.

Also I would put Lacombe, McLaughlin and Colangelo up a tier. NCAA isn’t a point league so you gotta look past that. Things like advance stats and the body of work are important to look at for prospects. (The example I always think of is Brady Tkachuk college point totals) it’s just different playing against 20+year olds than teenagers.

Also BO groulx is more of a bottom six player. So down a tier IMO.

All and all I think you put together a solid list. Future is bright.

As you said, NCAA production and CHL production can't be compared all that that easily. They're pretty hard to compare since many NCAA freshmen play very limited minutes and even when on the 1st line don't score nearly as much as a player with the same role in the CHL. Good example: Blake McLaughlin. One of my favorite prospects (also because I'm a Gophers fan) who plays Top line minutes but still "only" produces close to 1 PPG. A player like him would produce far more in the CHL.

I'm not a big Colangelo fan, but that's just me. I don't see him becoming more than a solid Bottom 6 player, but I definitely hope he proves me wrong.

I think I always underrate LaCombe a bit. Sometimes I think he could become a legit 2nd pairing player and a few days later I think he won't ever crack the NHL. I think I'll put him a tier higher.

As I said, I really like McLaughlin and I wanted to put him up a tier, but I was unsure if that would've been fair if we look at him from an outside perspective. Since I'm a Gophers fan, I thought it would look "biased" to have him in tier 4. But since you are of the same opinion, I'll move him up.

I really like Tschigerl, so I see him in tier 4, but thinking about it, he should probably be in 5.

Groulx was a really hard decision. It could go either way. He fits a bottom 6 role, but I see his upside to be a bit higher.

(Where do you get advanced stats for NCAA players? I tbh have no idea where I would even look. I try to watch NCAA games of non-Gophers Ducks prospects as much as possible. Most of the time that's Havard since there are two there. Admittedly, I haven't watched Colangelo at all this season, so my opinion and view of him didn't change in comparison to this summer. Maybe that's why I have him lower than you.)

Well done! Honestly, I like how level headed it is...sure, there could be some discussion here and there about dropping or bumping a player up/down, but I don't feel like you've done what most do-absolutely overrate every prospect in the system.

Here are my thoughts...
-You've got Pastujov in tier 3...I think he might have that upside, and if he hits it what a big steal, but I worry about the footspeed. I think he ends up as a decent 3rd line option. If we're just going off of "upside" though, shouldn't Tracey be right there with him? I guess I'd have them both in tier 4 though...
-I've been pretty high on Dostal, but it's been a pretty inconsistent year for him in SD. I think he's still got it, but I guess (without watching them enough), I can only really go by the numbers this year (SMALL SAMPLE SIZE!!!), which are mediocre at best. I'd assume that a lot of it comes from an inconsistent d-core in front of him, but I guess I'd just like to see more out of him.
-I worry about Zellweger's size. Kid can play, and many have done it before him, but again, seems like a "Boom or bust" type of guy (Which isn't bad considering he was a 2nd rounder).
-Really like Thrun, and hope he hits the top 4 some day, but I think we're a long way out before we see that. Of the Thrun/Zellweger/Moore/Lacombe group, I think I've got Lacombe 1/4.
-Really hope we sign McLaughlin.
-Agree completely with Groulx. Think he's a fine option, but I'd assume he ends up as a Sammy Pahlsson type with a bit more offense. You could do a heck of a lot worse!

Again though, great list!

Thoughts on your thoughts:
-Without the "skating concern" Pastujov would've been a first rounder. And a lot of times those kind of players that drop a lot due to their skating are either boom or bust. A recent example for boom: Jason Robertson, although the concern with his skating resided in his first few steps when accelerating. A reason Pastujov went to Guelph was because of Underhill who's the skating coach there. She also coached guys like Brayden Point and I think his skating will be just fine. Skating can still be taught at such a relatively young age and it's looked better this season already. I project him to be a 2nd line LW. I don't see Tracey being as good as Pastujov at the NHL, but I'm happy that he's regained some confidence and is playing pretty good with the Gulls this season. He definitely has the upside, it's more that I don't project him to quite reach it. He could be a tier higher.
-Dostal has struggled a bit this season, but, as you said, this is also due to the defense in front of him. He showed how good he is last year and I still think he's a top 10 goalie prospect.
-I think Zellweger will be just fine. I don't think size is as important in the modern-day NHL. Many D are under 6 feet tall and still have a lot of success because of other factors in their game (like Fox, Makar, Girard and Hughes). And with the skating ability he has, he'll just skate circles around opponents to avoid getting hit. And it's not like he's 5'7" or anything.
-You really have LaCombe as the best? I personally can't see him being higher than the other 3. Thrun's been one of my favorite prospects for a long time and he's always been better than LaCombe defensively and he's not far off when it comes to offense imo. My guess is Thrun plays another year at Harvard and then either plays with the Ducks immediately or goes to San Diego. It depends how he looks in training camp. But I believe that he'll be the first to play in the NHL out of the group you mentioned.
-I really hope so. Have been following him a lot since his first year with the Gophers and I really like his game. Another great "late" round pick by the Ducks scouting department. (Is 3rd round already "late"?)

A great and thorough compilation. Very well done.

What strikes me most about this post is the realism of all of the commentators. You just KNOW that a survey like this for at least half of the fanbases in the League would have three guys in Tier One, five guys in Tier Two, eight guys in Tier Three, etc. I think that @TZ11 in particular has been pleasantly conservative in his evaluations.

If we treat Tier Two as "expected to be a success," Tier Three as "50% chance to be an effective NHL player," and Tier Four as "25% chance to be a meaningful NHL player," then I think that there's a legitimate chance that we will see McTavish, one of Perreault or Pastujov, one of Thrun or Zellweger, and two of Dostal, Groulx, McLaughlin and Tracey eventually making it onto the roster. And then there are the chances of unexpected home runs. The future is bright!

Really appreciate the kind words. I always try my best to stay as neutral as possible. It would be fatal to think all prospects in a team's pool will be great NHLers. I obviously hope they will, but realistically, some sadly just won't pan out. I really like the prospect system and especially a lot of the later round picks. That and the fact that the team is unexpectedly already playing quite well right now, makes me very excited for the future.

@Edmund0 I take what I said. I saw a few Northeastern games and I liked what I saw of Colangelo. Looks much better than last season imo. I'd definitely have him in Tier 04, slightly ahead of McLaughlin/BOG.
