No, he's the replacement for Hammond in Iowa. Right now, Talbot is out so Hammond comes up. Baribeau (our other AHL goalie is hurt), and Hunter Jones was just recalled to the taxi squad for the trip to Boston tomorrow. We needed another body for Iowa. He might end up on the taxi squad once Talbot gets healthy since I would assume they'd prefer Hammond in a mentor-ship role in Iowa.

So that'd why they didn't want to sign him on an ahl contract, because than he wouldn't be able to go on the taxi squad.

Yes, I think they want Hunter Jones and Dereck Baribeau playing actual games, so McIntyre becomes the taxi squad guy when everyone becomes healthy. Hammond goes becomes the AHL back up. I guess if the taxi squad goes away, McIntyre is assigned to the AHL too, or maybe he'd be willing to accept an ECHL assignment.
