Dreger reported today that the Coyotes are asking for an “Eichel-like” return for Chychrun and are fine not dealing him at all. To me there’s no trade done with LA unless Clarke is included. People will disagree but that’s fine, Chychrun is young and cost-controlled there’s no reason for Arizona to trade him unless they’re blown away

Not to say I fully agree but people are treating Turcotte like McDavid on here. I think he is a hell of a prospect and that this package is pretty solid.

Most of the scouting community has soured on him somewhat. He’s no longer seen as the same prospect he was when he was drafted. Coyotes need to get a true blue-chip prospect in any Chychrun deal, Turcotte isn’t that anymore. I’m more than happy to get him as a secondary piece in a deal.

Interesting. Everyone on here is wild for the kid. And he hasn’t produced yet in the N, didn’t watch his 3 games so maybe he looked good? Or not? I couldn’t tell ya but I’m sure some angry fans will be lurking 👀 haha

As a Yotes fan, if Chychrun is traded to the kings, they won’t do it unless Byfield is involved. Buffalo ended up getting Krebs as part of the Eichel return, even though Vegas had said it was a deal breaker. I really love Turcotte, but he is not a blue chip piece any more. If Chychrun does get traded at all, I could see a top prospect, another high end prospect with a really high ceiling, and a couple of lottery picks going to Arizona. The fact that he has performed well on arguably the worst team in the league (it really hurts to say that) could possibly make him even more valuable. Although that last part is a hypothetical thing, there are some GMs out there dumb enough to pay more for a “what if” scenario.

Chychrun is a good player, but he's not anywhere close to Eichel's value. LA balked at the Eichel talks because they refused to include Byfield in the trade. If they wouldn't give up Byfield for Eichel, they're not going to give him up for Chychrun.

1st round pick + Turcotte + Walker or Grundstrom

If another team is willing to pay more than that, then they're welcome to have him.

I don't know who you think Chychrun is, but he's not the second coming of Erik Karlsson. He's not a top 10 defenseman in the NHL.

I realize he plays for a bad team, so his numbers aren't going to look great, but he was taken off the 1PP in favor of Gostisbehere this season. The one area where he should be the go-to guy for a dynamic defenseman, and he's not the go-to guy on the worst team in the league.

If these ludicrous returns are what's expected in return for Chychrun, then I hope Anaheim gives up all those pieces for him. They'll surely regret it.

VGK doesn't make that deal.
Savings from Dad to Kessel aren't that much, even w/retention.
Dad doesn't waive NTC.
You could do it w/Smith, but two probs:
1. VGK doesn't add pick
2. The benefit of Kessel's 1 fewer year is removed.

I don't see a universe where anything resembling that deal occurs.
Do I think VGK might make a move for Kessel? Yes. But the bones of that trade have osteoporosis. No deal.

He was a top 10 defenseman last year when he had a competent defensive partner. This year he has had the privilege of playing with the corpse of Anton Stralman for most of his games. He hasn’t stepped up, sure. But you don’t get to erase last year’s performance because of a bad first 20 games of this season.

Doesn’t matter whether you think he’s worth an Eichel like return or not. That’s what Arizona is asking for so either they’ll get it or they’ll keep him and be just as happy

Canucks don't need Lyubushkin unless they are sending Poolman (who has been solid for them) the other way

If that's the return they want, then I'd be more than happy for someone else's team to pay it.

Chychrun is a top 30 dman in the NHL, Turcotte doesn't have nearly the same value he had a few years ago. I think you are drastically underrating Chychrun and overrating your own prospects

Since when is the 30th best defenseman worth 3 top quality assets plus change? Even if he wasn't in the middle of a bad season. That's insane.
