Is Sandin really a deal-breaker? Adding Chychrun easily makes Toronto cup favorites?

Mikheyev is not interesting enough to get that deal done it has to be Amirov or Robertson

    Honestly I would do it

Sandin has enormous potential yes but Chychrun improves our chances at a cup rn

Yes his numbers in Arizona this season suck but have you seen the team. That -29 would be gone in a week in Toronto and his production would go way up especially if Keefe puts him on the pp or plays him when Matthews hits the ice.

Its a trade that could work out well for either side and honestly if Sandin was the piece to get it done and they were willing to take on Holl and Ritchie I would do it

According to Kypreos, the ask is a 1st, a 2nd, Sandin, and a top 9 forward. Mikheyev isn't the main piece here, and we aren't an incredible defenseman AND a top prospect for a marginally better defenseman.

I read everything you said and well.. the thing that I'm confused about Arizona is.. if they really are tanking hard for the next 2-3 years then how does Sandin help with that? He's already at the NHL level which isn't quite the kind of asset you want for the start of a rebuild... maybe once into the rebuild sure but right at the start? Hmm..

You must be joking Chychrun is averaging more than 8 mins more a game than Sandin is. He is only 2 years older but has 250 more NHL games played.

They arent in the same area code right now.

Sandin is not yet fully established in the NHL nor at Chycrun's level. So this will cause the Coyotes to lose more games improving their chances at the #1OA pick as going from Chycrun to Sandin is a step down rn.

Coyotes can build around Sandin who is currently cheaper and in 2-3 years if all pans out have someone better at both ends than Chycrun along with guys like Wright, Michkov, etc.

As for 2022 the Coyotes Blue line would most likely be

    Ghost-Timmins
    Moser-Mayo
    Sandin-Lybushkin

That aint getting them alot of wins

Sandin is blocked by Muzzin, Rielly, and Brodie (if you wanted to actually have him play LD) so having him play third pair minutes isn't going to do anything for Sandin's development except stun his growth as a player, however, bring in another LD doesn't really help us in the long run unless they plan to move on from Brodie or Muzzin after this season to free up that cap space. If we are moving Sandin I would hope they would do it for a stud RD shutdown top 4 defender.

As for the actual deal. It a good deal for both sides. (but I would ask for a little retention for that package) 1m could go a long way for the Leafs cap for the next three years.

Honestly based on the rumors and posts I've seen here I'd be surprised if that was enough for Chychrun. I don't think it is.

Just telling you my opinion as a fan. It’s not like an insider (especially kypreos) has ever had bad info fed to them before. But in terms of fit Mikheyev is of no use to the Coyotes. His contract is expiring after the season and he’s 27 years old. Coyotes would be looking for a player under the age of 21 who has the potential to become a top 9 forward. Hence why I say Robertson/Amirov

So let's say the leafs make the trades suggested here. Next season the leafs have Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Bunting, Kampf, Kerfoot, Simmonds, Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie, Chychrun, Holl and Dermott all signed, 14 players with 8.9 milion in cap space if it goes up 1 million. There is no way the leafs can trade for CHYCHRUN.
