Description
Different possible moves at the tdl. Severson for having term, Chiarot or Klingberg as possible rental options. Klingberg will cost the most, and so could see Tampa going after the player with term in Severson or a strong playoff performer in Chiarot that would be less exp than Klingberg(also a great playoff guy). They could then either move Serg to the right or have Chiarot play his off side, or keep Serg on the left and have 2 chances with Severson. In any case, moving Rutta for a mid to late pick would be necessary to facilitate this, but since he likely is gone after this season anyway, it could make sense, especially if Severson was being acquired.

This is probably the deadline as to whether they decide to move Foote or commit to him moving forward, so will be interesting. I don't see the team offering him for a rental piece either, but if it was for someone with an extra year like Severson for example, then perhaps. I know Foote was a non-starter in past deals made by Yzerman, but who knows if Brisebois feels the same.

There has to be at least 1 b level prospect along with the first for the Habs.

The only plausible option here is Severson. Chiarot is a lefty and Klingberg will cost too much in assets for salary retention.

It would also reunite the Foote brothers.

Chiarot is viable as Serg could be moved to the right if he was acquired. Severson would be my 1st choice as well, but if they're looking for a rental then Chiarot is possible.

For forwards perhaps, but their defense needs a boost as it has been below average most of the year. Asking Vasilevskiy to have to stand on his head night in and night out isn't going to work all year, especially in the playoffs.

Only one id look at is Severson, and if we can sign him on the cheap next season. id gladly give up Foote, a 1st, and a small add to get him at 50% retained plus 50% from another team for a mid round pick

Their defense has been decimated by injury this year

I agree that Severson is the best fit among the three. It would be similar to the Coleman trade in some ways, as Tampa would get 2 runs with him at least. I guess it depends on how they view Foote, but hard to argue against Severson being a better fit for the team now.

Only Cernak really, which is a big loss of course, but the defense has been a weak spot overall. It's not just because of Cernak. While Foote may eventually become that top 4 guy, for where Tampa is positioned right now, getting at least 2 runs with Severson helps Tampa out more imo.

Bogo has missed more games than Cernak and the other day their right side was Rutta Sustr and Raddysh

Ok, and? Bogo has always been an injury prone player throughout his career, and Tampa is foolish if they thought things would magically change. The point remains that Bogo is a 5/6 type, and while Rutta is okay in a top 4 role, being paired with Hedman helps greatly. Having Severson would give a team in the middle of their window a better chance for the next couple of years than Foote. 2 or 3 seasons from now it is possible that Foote is a steady top 4 presence, but for now he's a 3rd pairing sheltered minutes player. I doubt the team really wants him eating any minutes in the playoffs, but one injury/Covid situation on the right side and that's where they will be. He has improved slightly, but if he had to be included to get Severson(or another RD in the same tier with an extra year attached), then Brisebois should consider it if he can make the cap work.
