Bhahahaha that doesn't come close. Yandle was as AZ saw an overpaid underachieving albatross. Chychrun is an underpaid young top pair defender on one of the best contracts in the league.

That doesn't get Chycrun, replace Juolevi with a much better prospect to start, also don't see the Coyotes having any interest in Duclair.

Yandle was 29 with a year left on his deal at the time. Chychrun is 23 with 3 more seasons (beyond this one) of cost controlled certainty in a flat cap environment. He gets more than this for sure.

One problem Floirda has next year is they don't have any big expiring contracts and already Barkov and Verhaegae have signed big extensions. Finding cap, admitting Chychrun's isn't that big would be an issue

lol not even close.

Why do so many people here think "comparable" trades work?

Because nobody on here can ever agree on anybody's trade value?

Yeah but a 29yo yandle on an expiring contract whose skills were declining is an extremely bad comparable to a 23yo Chychrun with 3more years on one of the club friendliest contracts in hockey during a flat cap horrible comparable

1. Arizona traded Yandle in March of 2015, which was in the 2014-2015 season.

His contract lasted through the 2015-2016 season as well.

That means Yandle's contract wasn't expiring.

2. If you look at my posts, I've been trying to find a good comparable for Chychrun.

I looked at the trades for OEL, Eichel, Pronger and now, Yandle.

Which trade in the entire history of the NHL do you believe would serve as a good comparable for Chychrun?

One that is not "extremely bad" or "horrible", as you put it?

3. Interestingly, Chychrun's statistics are not much better than Yandle's from 2014-2015.

I have a feeling that there are quite a few people on this site right now that are grossly overvaluing Chychrun.

1st big age difference. 2nd there is really no comparable due to COVID flat cap 3rd Yandle was and has been on a steady decline then and since

It’s the right approach. And much closer to how it’s really done in real life. Keep ‘em up.

As for comps…maybe Muzzin, Mountour, Coburn, Phaneuf. Hard to find 23-yr old d-men to use as comps. Maybe Larry Murphy LAK/WAS deal? Going way make

Given your second point how can you effectively evaluate return without a comparable? When you go to buy a car/house you have an idea based on Carfax/CMA. You can pick just about anything apart like Chychrun’s injury history but that’s never mentioned as it doesn’t fit a specific narrative. I’ve seen people claim he’s stats are deflated because the team he plays on but at the same time the last few years Hronek’s we’re inflated because increased ice time. Yandle followed that up with a career year so don’t buy into those Norris votes as we all know the award isn’t about what a defensemen does in his own end.

Yandle wasn't a rental and had another year on his contract.
He played 4 consecutive 82 game seasons while continuing to be an offensive contributor for both NYR and Florida after the trade.
He had 41 points in 63 games prior to being traded, how is any of that a decline?

At the time of the trade, Duclair was a promising player with good value. The picks were traded to draft Chychrun. They essentially flipped Yandle for two main pieces, a rising top 6 forward and a promising top 4D prospect.

A top prospect (D or F) and a 1st, more than covers the value of the Yandle trade. Add one more piece for the extra term or a 2nd and that's fair value. A younger roster player preferably, so they have some RFA control.
That's already a high price, beyond that you are definitely overpaying.
