Would you want to commit term and dollars to a UFA D man?

I would think that Jack Campbell would be your dream target. If not him, Ilya Samsonov or even Jake Oettinger.

This team needs a RH center more than Hertl. Way too much money with Larkin Bert Ned and Hronek needing raises soon.

Why not? He's having an alright year, as a back up I'm sure he would be fine. All we need is someone to fill that roll for 2-3 years until Cossa can start being the back up.

Why would Detroit go after any of those goalies? In order to acquire either you would have to trade alot or give up alot with an offer sheet. Then what? You have a very expensive back up? All Detroit needs is a half decent veteran back up that can hold down that roll for 2-3 years until Cossa is ready to start getting some games in.

We got the space to do so, I don't know if going after two high paid free agents is the right move though. If you sign one and he doesn't work out, you can afford to eat some salary or let his time run out depending on the contract.

Don't disagree with needing a righty, Trocheck fits that. I think they will be ok with the raises though. Bert I see around 6M, Larkin 7-8M, Hronek maybe 6M, Ned 5-6M Seider and Raymond are the wild cards. But at Bert and Larkin contract time the wings have almost 40M in cap space.

I like Trocheck a lot as well - will cost less also.

Cap is not a huge issue but with contracts like Hertl's it can easily become one. Need to stay away from stuff like that, and I'm confident Yzerman will.

Yeah I think trocheck could be a 6M guy. I'm worried that Raymond and Seider are each going to want 10M+

Well they are RFAs, so many years until we have to worry about that. I don't think either will warrant a $10M contract but hopefully the cap will be way up by then.

Did you see him in San Jose?? How is he worth 2.7 after 12 games with a .911 and a 3.2GAA.. id rather have Greiss til he's 40 than risk being stuck with sub .900 Martin Jones. Just trade for Georgiev, he can play very well in a 1A/1B situation.
