I thought McTavish’s power move to the net was impressive, then he circled around again and scored a beauty. Great goal. Also, after allowing 11 goals in two games, I bet Russia is wishing they had a #1 quality defensive defenseman who has been at the tournament before…

Finland looks good, but so does Germany.

Russias decision to omit NA skaters is going to bite them. Kuznetsov would be a huge bonus on their backend.

I’m excited to watch the States play - never would cheer for them but the USNTDP is such an exciting program. Canada needs to create something similar.

Some of Canada’s known weaknesses coming in were bringing only left shot defenders and Garand being tiny for a goalie. Both have been exposed in this game against the Czechs. Hopefully Cossa takes the reigns, I’d feel much more comfortable with a 6’6” goalie with first round pedigree in net, even if he’s a little younger. Garand doesn’t look good at all so far. Gotta mount the comeback though, Power got one back so it’s 3-2, but this isn’t a game we can lose.

Instead they're just sitting on Brochu as their 3rd goalie. They should really just play Cossa with Gaudreau as the backup (if he was invited) and sit Garand who I'm not too high on.

I really don’t think this was the play. Cossa should be the starter, but I’d be fine with either Garand or Brochu as the backup. All of those guys are over a .920 sv% this year, Gaudreau’s at a .906. Brochu’s been incredible 2 years running at the WJ camps, Garand was the backup last year. It’s the right group of 3 goalies, but Cossa should be the guy they ride, and hopefully he looks good against whichever team he plays in the back to back and then gets the start vs. Finland and runs with the job.

Gaudreau wasn’t invited, he’s a little bigger but not really much.

I just didn’t like putting it all on Cossa as the reliable guy and putting Brochu and Garand. Cause there’s some lethal teams this year. I woulda rather see more invitees, Yeah Canadas good as usual but;

Russia is very good

Finland is very good

USA is gonna be quite good.

We have no right shots and didn’t stock up in net. As @Alfie11 said. There is gonna be formula to just abuse our weakness. We may have a good offence but our holes are evident to every teams coaching staff.

I think right now, albeit without watching the Americans, Sweden is my no 1. Like you said, we are the most talented team, but we have glaring weaknesses that our best opponents can exploit. But boy, do we ever have some incredible players. Perfetti, Johnson, McTavish, and Power could all probably step into the NHL and make an impact.

We really need Cossa in net. I was also stunned when Gaudreau was snubbed, and even more so when I saw that Garand and Brochu were the only ones dressed tonight. We'd better hope this game was to rest Cossa.

I am super stoked for the Sweden v USA game, I have a feeling that winner's got group B in the bag.

And finally, holy smokes, McTavish is a man child

Emil Andrae was an absolute force for Sweden. I've never been high on Holtz, and I didn't see him until he scored. Daniel Ljungman was also a pleasant surprise, he's a horse
