Obviously I'm talking about Toronto, how would Arizona lose a trade where they give up nothing? Mrazek is a good goalie, Kase is a great forward. Why are we giving them up, AND a second? Youve lost your head.

Like the Holl trade.

Think Leafs keep Kase around for awhile.

Spezza will be back.

SDA isn't ready (probably never will be). Steeves is already ahead of him.

mrazek is a 2 year cap dump at almost $4m. kase is arbitration eligible and might get a contract the leafs can't walk away from. i think they don't even qualify him

Mrazek plays on a top team in the league, and has had about 3 starts.

Maybe let him get some actual games in before assuming he's a cap dump.

There's a handful of teams in the league he'd be their starter today, despite not looking great.

Kase makes 1.25M. How in the world do you figure they'd walk away from his qualifying offer?

He's been a pivotal part of their checking line this year, and shown he can handle top 6 minutes when needed. He's become a valuable player for Leafs.

Not too mention he literally picked the Leafs in order to play with his best friend since childhood in Kampf. So obviously the fit is working well for both parties.

mrazek has to play better to get a better return. with campbell locked up he'd be expendable anyway. who need a $3.8m backup?

like i said in my previous post kase can elect for arbitration if he's qualified. in arbitration he may get a hefty raise the leafs can't walk away from.

You're trading Mrazek to a team that he'd be their starter.

The fact that Mrazek plays for a top team means he'll likely have a solid 2nd half (if he can stay healthy).

Arbitration rights gets way overblown. If team and player are both happy (no evidence either party isn't) negotiations go smoothly.

Kase stated he wanted to go somewhere where he can be comfortable to get over his injury troubles, no reason to think he'll get unreasonably greedy this summer. Also, once Marner is back he's out of the top 6, so he's not going to put up a 60pt season or anything.

Neither Kase nor Mrazek have negative value. Even if the Leafs have to move them for cap reasons, they will fetch some return.

Toronto. Mrazek is worth approximately nothing, at most he might cost a late pick to dump, but certainly not a second round pick. And you think it would also include Kase, who has been excellent as a maple leaf and it would probably cost a first round pick to pry him away because of how cheap he is.

Lots of season left for Mrazek to gain some value, and plenty of teams are going the platoon route. He'll have value in the summer, even if it's a 6th rounder.

Even if Kase earns $3M+, foolish to think Leafs would just walk away. They can flip him somewhere for a 3rd instead of tossing him away for no value, or not qualifying him.

More likely scenario is a 3 yr deal for $2m ish playing somewhere that's comfortable for him. You can literally just give him the ZAR deal from the team you've proposed above.

right no mrazek is a cap dump. maybe he does improve but until then it's hes a bad asset.

a players rights aren't really worth much, especially if they are going to arbitration. how do you think kase ended up as a free agent in the first place.

no one is going to help toronto out of their cap bind cheaply.

Kase ended up as a free agent because he played 3 games in about a calendar year while suffering through multiple concussions.

That's the type of scenario that leads to players QO being more then they are potentially worth.

Considering Kase is playing good hockey, is relatively healthy and is only making 1.25m, that's no longer the case, and him not getting qualified last year has no bearing or similarity to his situation this summer.

Teams let teams off the hook all the time if it benefits them. Tampa Bay was able to escape cap hell for 3 years with teams like Ottawa letting them off the hook.

Teams are desperate for goalies. Bad goalies get 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances constantly in this league. Mrazek throws together a decent run in the 2nd half, there will be a market for him.

Again, he's played 3 games.
