Klefbom is on LTIR so doesn't have a cap hit, no reason for Edmonton to move that contract.
Barrie is an elite offensive defenseman so there isn't enough in this trade (remove Edmonton's 1st, add Detroit's 1st?) to interest the Oilers.
The main purpose of adding a big contract (Keith, Barrie, Klefbom) is to get to the cap floor. That's the reason Klefbom's contract is a possible target. Also, "Barrie is an elite offensive defenseman"? I've gone up to bat for Barrie plenty of times, to defend him when people call him a cap dump, but he's not an "elite offensive defenseman". He's good, sure, and he has a knack for feeding elite talent, but I wouldn't go that far.

Why would Detroit have any interest in this. Veleno finally NHL ready so they trade him for a late 1st to start the process all over again...and Keith + Marody offers nothing to Wings.
Idk, I get why we shouldn't move Veleno but I just have a feeling deep down that he's never gonna reach his potential. He's been practically invisible on the ice ever since that debut 2-point game this season, and while I get that he's still developing, I don't see enough right now to confidently say he's ever going to be more than a third-liner at best. I'm not giving up all hope, but he's been such a slow burner with his development that it makes it hard for me to get excited about him. Just my gut feeling about him, but I definitely understand why Detroit shouldn't move him.
