If you mean specifically. In my ideal situation, we would get Pavelski for the playoffs for a 1st. A 2nd round pick would go to Vegas for one of Smith or McNabb, or both in some way.

Assuming the 1st and the 2nd are for Pavelski and Riley Smith for 2021 playoff push...rather than go that route, why not offer a package to Seattle for McCann? Say the 1st + Nemeth + a 5th (or a prospect like Henrikson) for McCann?

McCann would be the C they need for this year and he'd be a plan "B" if they can't get it done on a team friendly Strome deal...and if all else fails- he's RFA after the year...that alone has value they can trade.

Lundkvist for Podkolzin is an interesting idea. Maybe helps bring Kravtsov into line later on.

I like McCann, he seems to me to be similar to Goodrow (swiss army knife type) with a bit more skill. The problem is hes a RFA with a minimum qualifying offer of 3.38m. Sure you can offset some of it by getting rid of Nemeth, however with only 300k in free cap space here, that leaves us with 2.8m... 500k short of his minimum qualifying offer. Considering his play this year, and last with PIT, he will command more than just the minimum.

Maybe Kravtsov comes back maybe he doesnt. The way I see it is you have 2 talented prospects, VAN needs a RD, NYR needs a RW and NYR needs to make a spot available for Schneider.

If they hold off on finalizing Strome, they would have the cap to qualify McCann...at least in that scenario, McCann would remain RFA. I'm sure he wouldn't jump at that offer- so they could juggle what to do between him and Strome. If Strome signs, they can then trade McCann before finalizing Kakko. Of course, the risk here is that someone blows Strome away with an offer...then he's lost for nothing and McCann additionally has a little extra leverage...we'll see what happens. In any case, a real tough decision is upcoming. In this ACGM, that decision is trading Chytl. I wouldn't be surprised if Lindgren is also a casualty...

FWIW, now we are seeing the significance of ADA buyout. I thought the better way to play that situation was NOT to buy him out- but to keep him on the shelf...by now I think he would have caved and terminated...he had a lot to lose by not playing...and right now he is playing himself into a nice payday somewhere.

Love the idea of Podkolzin...maybe Lundkvist and Gauthier for Podkolzin and Lammikko if Vancouver wants a RW to replace Podkolzin?

I dont think Lindgren is going anywhere. Its like Strome and Panarin, you dont want to break that bond between Lindgren and Fox. Its also not a good look for team solidarity.
I think the casualty, if his game doesnt get better, is K'Andre Miller.
Robertson has an extra year on his ELC which could be huge for the Rangers, and I think Robertson can be a top 4 D-man. We also got Zac Jones who is super talented offensively, silky silky player.

Maybe, hell if Kravtsov decides he wants to come back to the Rangers then were right back were we started this year with our RW depth having Kakko, Podkolzin and Kravtsov.

It's still "cap hell" of the Rangers have to pay even half of those bonuses, which would reduce the cap in 23/24. Maybe Strome just can't be resigned, if it's money he wants.

I doubt all the bonuses get paid out. Not the way the kids are playing, with the exception of Fox.

Gauthier, Halak and Reaves are on expiring contracts = 4.25m
Nemeth will have 1 year left and can be a rental for someone = 2.5m
All of the dead cap money comes off the books = 3.427m

Total = 9.927m + (925k x 4) = @14m in cap
