Quoting: tryger
Not Faber. I'd counter:
Turcotte + Nousiainen + Walker + Maata + 1st + 3rd for Chychrun
I'm a Kings fan high on our prospects and players. But there's just simply not enough value there. Nousiainen is a small-ish defender with a low chance of making an impact at the NHL level, and Walker's well past the wrong side of 25 which does nothing for a team that has just started the rebuild phase.
They can pick one of Grans or Faber, who are close to NHL-level ranks with high 2nd pair upside on both of them, and should be counted as that "high-quality prospect". In addition, both are about a year away from possibly making the jump (Grans one more year in the AHL before his call-ups start, and I'm assuming Faber will only need a single year in the AHL after he's done with college this year). The other positive for Arizona is that it helps them rebuild all sides of their team, not just the center ice position.
And don't get me wrong, I like Faber alot. But with Doughty, Clarke, Roy, Walker, Grans, and Spence all in the pipeline. Any one of them not named Doughty or Clarke are expendable to me. If Faber's the guy they want, fine.
