Post Deadline With an Acceptable Chychrun Trade

Explications
First off trading Chych now makes no sense as his value as low as it's gonna get. That being said.. any trade starts with an unprotected first in 2023.. trading him to playoff team this year for a pick in the 20s makes no sense.. the next asset has to be NHL ready center under the age of 21.. and finally either another 1st or another top quality prospect. At the end of the day this is a Norris caliber player making 4.6 million for 3 more years he's an insane value you don't give him away, you either get blown away or you hold onto him.

That being said they aren't a ton of teams that I think are fits trade wise but I've done what I would do if I was GMBA.
Transactions
1.
ARI
  1. Turcotte, Alex
  2. Vilardi, Gabriel
  3. Määttä, Olli
  4. 2023 1e round pick (LAK)
  5. 2022 2e round pick (LAK)
Détails additionnels:
I know you're not getting Byfield or Clarke, but Turcotte is still a very high upside player, he could be a long term high end 2C, or an elite 3C. Assuming you get Shane Wright or Bedard in the next two years that's setting you up for success long term. Vilardi's value is at his lowest but he's worth a flyer.. the second rounder give the Coyotes 6 in this upcoming draft.. which you can either use all 6 and get as many bites at the Apple as you want or package them to move up for a 4th 1st.

The 2023 1st from LA is unprotected.

Maatta is for salary purposes.
LAK
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
2.
ARI
  1. Jones, Zachary
  2. 2022 4e round pick (NYR)
Détails additionnels:
Rangers need a forward. Phil has two cups, should arguably have a Conn Smyth, he's still a very good PP player and could slot onto their 3rd line eat up bottom 6 competition like he did with Penguins on the HBK line but he can play up in the lineup too. The retention makes his cap hit such that the Rangers can still make other moves.

Jones is a very good prospect but he's caught behind a numbers game in New York in that he's not better than Miller and Lindgren.. he could help ease the loss of Chychrun
NYR
  1. Kessel, Phil (3 400 000 $ retained)
3.
ARI
  1. Turris, Kyle
  2. 2023 2e round pick (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
Helps fix their depth problem. Unreal defensive player. The kind of upgrade that people look back on and say "that's why they won the cup." Doesn't cost a ton. Turris makes it a cap neutral transaction and comes back to where it all started... a fitting punishment.
EDM
  1. Larsson, Johan

I don't see any way you get both Turcotte and Vilardi from LA. You say that Vilardi's value is at his lowest, and that may be true. But the same argument can be made for Chychrun's and his -29 season. Replace one of them with one of Grans, Spence, or Faber, and maybe I can see LA being interested.

I really really don't want to move Chychrun but I think I would be fine with this.

Not Faber. I'd counter:

Turcotte + Nousiainen + Walker + Maata + 1st + 3rd for Chychrun

Just gonna continue on with my day assuming you didn’t mean to value Larsson at a 2nd.

Oilers need depth scoring. Not sure how moving a 2nd round pick for a guy with zero goals is the right move.

Grossly overvaluing your man here

I'm a Kings fan high on our prospects and players. But there's just simply not enough value there. Nousiainen is a small-ish defender with a low chance of making an impact at the NHL level, and Walker's well past the wrong side of 25 which does nothing for a team that has just started the rebuild phase.

They can pick one of Grans or Faber, who are close to NHL-level ranks with high 2nd pair upside on both of them, and should be counted as that "high-quality prospect". In addition, both are about a year away from possibly making the jump (Grans one more year in the AHL before his call-ups start, and I'm assuming Faber will only need a single year in the AHL after he's done with college this year). The other positive for Arizona is that it helps them rebuild all sides of their team, not just the center ice position.

And don't get me wrong, I like Faber alot. But with Doughty, Clarke, Roy, Walker, Grans, and Spence all in the pipeline. Any one of them not named Doughty or Clarke are expendable to me. If Faber's the guy they want, fine.

Fair enough, I'm ok with losing Grans but big on Faber and Kirsinov as the next wave of shut down defenders for this team. Eventually, we do need to get our blueline cheaper if we are going to pay Anderson and attain a top LD, I see one of Walker or Roy being moved to make that work.
