Équipe: 2022-23 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 14 déc. 2021
Publié: 14 déc. 2021

Description
I'm hoping the Leafs draft a guy like Chesley if he's available. RHD with good size and a rocket point shot. A future core of Rielly, Chesley, Sandin, Liljegren, Niemela, and Kokkonen looks great. Leinonen is a great goalie prospect, maybe they draft him in the second round if available. And before people start going crazy for the Minnesota trade: Foglino is 30, Kerfoot 27 with almost the same amount of points, plus getting a good prospect back. Buffalo needs to hit cap floor plus will welcome a high draft pick, and need a starting goalie.

Foligno is on pace for 56 points, Kerfoot 45. Kerfoot 3 years younger. Knies is a great power forward prospect. It is enough

Glad you made at least a 22 man roster. Always find interesting that the so many think they can sign a competent RHD for 1.5m, but then to trade 2m Holl and except to be better. And calling Dermot a 1.5m cap dump?
Leafs are really weak at centre depth with that group, so sure looks like the dependable Kerfoot is needed.
Sabres don't have to get to the cap floor by taking on players they don't want (not saying Mrzraek isn't good value). But Mrzarek has N MTC, I think he he stays a Leaf, not a Sabre

Kampf and Engvall as bottom two centres isn't that bad, and SDA has good offensive upside, I don't think they're that weak. Besides Kerfoot has spent the majority of the year on the wing anyways. Ruuta is an upgrade over Holl at a cheaper price, and Holl has passed his prime and has been demoted over the more talented Liljegren. This is really Dermott's last year to show he belongs on the team, with Sandin and Liljegren taking spots, idk, is he better than Ruuta? Doubt it. He had a great first couple of years in Toronto, but his offence has disappeared. You right about Buffalo, but again if it means aquiring high picks on a rebuilder, I think they take it for two years of Mrazek.

From a purely value wise standpoint it's enough.

BUT IT DOES NOT MATTER.

Foligno is the heart and soul of the team. He's the 2nd most untouchable player on our roster behind only Kaprizov. Some players, it ain't about the value there bub. He's not for sale.

It's not enough! At all! MIN isn't trading foligno and he's untouchable. Minnesota didn't trade foligno for a 1st. Nobody wants Kerfoot especially MIN.

From a pure "value" stand point, I think the above trade favours Minnisota (1 for one would be fair).

But apparently Folingo is a really important guy to the team. I guess he's to the wild kind like what Spezza is to the leafs?

It's enough if you do your scouting by visiting both players' EliteProspects. If you search what type of players they are, what they bring inside the locker-room and how much they mean to the community, Kerfoot isn't even in the same galaxy as Foligno..

I am skeptical of some of the fans on this site. A year ago, I proposed a trade to Minnesota for Ryan Suter (I think it was and 1st, 2nd, and Niemela) and was met with an angry fan saying not even close. A couple of months later he was bought out rofl.

Hyman was heart and soul for Toronto, yet they had to let him go for financial reasons, for literally nothing. Luongo was the heart and soul of the Canucks, sign a huge long term deal, was a captain at one point, but for whatever reasons, usually financial, was traded. It happens all the time. I think Fiala, Brodin, Greenway, Spurgen, Rossi, even Dumba are far ahead of non tradable than Foligno.

What Marcus Foligno has become for the Minnesota wild ultimately means they actually won the trade with the Sabres that acquired him in the first place. Initially it certainly looks like the Sabres were laughing all the way to the bank on that trade: Pominville and Scandella for Foligno and Ennis

Pominville proceeded to score 15 goals the following year, and Scandella played top four minutes while in Buffalo. Ennis was so bad Minnesota bought him out, and Foligno had the worst statistical season of his career basically. Pominville continued to be productive until he retired, although not top 6 toward the end. Scandella became the whipping boy on buffalo’s defense and Botterill gave him away for a fourth round pick that they flipped to Calgary for the astoundingly average Michael Frolik, Who proceeded to do precisely nothing before leaving Buffalo in free agency. Marcus Foligno has become a leader in Minnesota, the player we thought he’d be if given the chance in Buffalo. So regardless of your points comparison it’s not an apples to apples thing here. Marcus Foligno is now the kind of core player a team doesn’t trade away for anything.

Just because toronto was cheap , and let him go doesn't mean wild and leafs operate the same way.

(You clearly has no idea who foligno is to wild fans, specifically wild gm Bill Guerin! He didn't trade him when wild was bad. He was offered a 1st and still said no. I promise you, Dumba isn't ahead of foligno, neither are brodin who is so freaking good. Just because Rossi is a top prospect and wouldn't be traded doesn't mean he's ahead of foligno. You are wrong about foligno. He's untouchable as their come on wild along with brodin and Joel Eriksson ek)

- you put it greenway on here? Haha seriously you are so wrong. Greenway isn't an important fabric of the team

Leafs should have traded for Marcus and signed Nick. Don't care what it would have taken of course Matthews, Marner and Tavares would not be traded. Willie in a package for Marcus and other assests would work though. Both Foligno's on the leafs would have made them a playoff built team for sure .

Foligno and Spezza aren't in the same atmosphere. Foligno is way more important to wild including offensively, defensively, in, and out of the lockerroom etc. Beloved by coaches and gm which is why he was rewarded with 3 years extension for close to 10mil.

Lol Nick was a complete waste of a 1st rounder, horrible by Dubas. If you mean signing Foligno maybe. I don't think Nylander will go anywhere, especially on a great contract.

As a Sabres fan who never wanted Foligno to be traded, I would give up more than that to acquire him. I miss him dearly and if he was still here he would 100% be the captain. He does everything you want a player to.

If you ignore the NTCs, of you list Brodin is the only one that would be almost untouchable, The team is trash without him in the lineup.

It's really too bad Spurgeon has that full NTC. I'd dump him for any halfway decent offer that came along. He makes way too much money and the team is just fine without him.

Guessing context is key. Either Wild fans were saying no to a Suter trade saying he wouldn't waive his NMC or guessing the Wild wouldn't trade him out of fear he'd retire early and hit them with the retirement cap penalty. If those issues didn't exist, any sane Wild fan a year ago would have been over at the Suter residence helping him pack if a team was offering positive value. lol
