If you traded Liljegren elsewhere, could you get a 1st round pick for him? If not, you need to add to the trade.

That's not happening. He's much more valuable long term than a half year of Chariot, who they wouldn't be able to fit in under the cap with this trade.

TOR declines.

Remember when TOR traded their 1st round pick and more for half a year of Foligno and 7 playoff games.... Yeah...

Value is value, wether or not you **** it up.

I don't disagree, but I also don't think a single team is giving up a 1st for Liljegren. So this is a trade that doesnt work well for either team.

Nah, Liljegren hasn't lived up to his hype. Montreal doesn't take him in place of a 1st that Chairot will surely get.

Where are the Leafs trading Liljegren for a first?

Yup, I do. Didn't work out, it happens.

More incentive to not make the same mistake again, which this would be.

Liligren hasnt lived up to the hype? He's been fantastic this season LOL. Dman take longer to develop and both him and Sandin have taken a massive step. Easily the clubs next 2nd pairing dman next season

That was my point, no one is trading a first for Liljegren. But Chiarot will net a 1st for Montreal this year. Therefore Liljegren isn't the best return Montreal could expect.

We have depth defensemen, we dont need another when we can draft who we want in a different trade. If you feel Leafs are losing this trade, then agree not to make it...

Imagine if we just tossed a player aside because they didn't become Lidstrom by the time they hit 30GP.

Lilly is getting his NHL reps, making the most of them, and makes Keefe think twice before taking him out of the line-up. He will be just fine long term.
