Koskinen just isn't anywhere near as good as MAF, i'm sorry. So just please don't try saying it in the comments. MAF has a .926 save % since Colliton was fired, and overall better numbers even when factoring in when Colliton was here

Is there a universe where the Oilers could do this without trading Broberg?

While I think the deal is heavily already in Edmonton's favour - I work with a deal of Fleury (50% retained) and Nylander for Edmonton's 2022 1st and Kyle Turris as a baseline - is there such a deal where Kubalik can be added without the Oilers including any of their current top prospects? What is Kubalik's value?

If we assume Koskinen isn't included in this deal, does Lavoie on his own net Dominik?

i'd assume kubalik comes in around a 2nd and a 3rd. he's an RFA at the end of the year as well.
maf retained nets a 2nd, i'd assume.

so maybe savoie + samorukov + 2nd gets you them both, and the oilers get rid of koskinen. that seems fair

Savoie is a non-starter for me. I explicitly stated none of the Oilers' top prospects. It's far more vital for the Oilers to have those that are ready sooner than a handful of futures.

I think it's been established that a half-retained Fleury will cost more than a second, but probably just under a first (hence the aforementioned deal I spoke of earlier).

My line of thinking was the 2022 1st, Lavoie, and Turris for Fleury and Kubalik. Edmonton could add a Benson or Marody-type or not send Turris altogether but I much prefer to deal futures.

Lavoie will be a bust. I watched him a ton in Halifax and saw him again at world juniors. He is talented but he has no heartbeat to his game. You look at him some times and he just has this confused, deer in the head lights look to him. I saw the same thing with Louis Leblanc. Very skilled, good player but just looks literally lost out there, even in leagues where they get points. Lavoie was a do not draft inside the first 3 rounds for me. Obviously I have no cristal ball but I wouldn’t trade a 3rd round pick for Lavoie.

You've gotta give to get. Asking for a vezina caliber goalie at 50% retention and a top 6 RFA forward without giving up anything meaningful just isn't reasonable. Lavoie is a non starter for the hawks imo in a kubalik trade that is

The 2022 1st is a meaningful piece, all I'm asking is if there are auxiliary pieces Edmonton has, preferably in the form of futures, that could pull this deal off. I'm also curious as to why Lavoie is a non-starter if you could elaborate on that.

the 2022 1st will be between 25-32. Hawks just expect more of a return on those two guys.

And I just don't like lavoie as a prospect. I've watched him some at halifax and the u20's(not a ton but enough to have an opinion I think). Haven't seen him in bakersfield cuz i'm not a oilers fan but doesn't look like it's been great statistically

These late 1st rounders are nothing more than a bag of magic beans with at best a 33% chance of becoming a NHL player; let alone a real impact NHL player. Oilers should readily give up a late first for a big upgrade in net for the playoffs. They aren't going to go far with Koskinen in net and despite early season performance suggesting otherwise, I think it's pretty clear now Koskinen is not a cup winning goalie.

As for the Hawks, they should be rebuilding right now and the plan by the former GM Bowman to not only start 2 years too late to rebuild but then to abandon the plan was foolish. Therefore, the Hawks have no use for Flowers and should sell to the highest bidder and there will be teams that would like him either as their #1 or about the best insurance policy you can get at the TDL for a run at the cup as a 1B (think Toronto in that case). I personally don't see the value in a late first and think those picks are highly overrated by fans not familiar with the fact that statistically late 1st rounders have less then a 33% chance to develop into a bonafide NHL player. I think the Hawks, depending on the market, should be asking for a top prospect while willingly giving up Kubalik or Strome as part of that package, Kubs obviously having more value but both being players that can light it up in the right situation.
