Why would WPG let Perreault walk and then trade a 3rd to get him back? He's not worth a 3rd, and I don't see WPG going after him.

Saw something similar a few weeks ago, but with the Leafs paying to take Brooks back.

Habs are getting good at taking players for free then getting the original team pay to get them back.

did they let him walk? or did he not want to sign there? anyway i dont know the answer but maybe a 5th would have been more reasonable?

Minnesota has zero need for winger much less bottom line winger. So no interest on Minnesota's part

I doubt the Jets have any interest in bringing Perreault back and he's certainly not worth giving up a 3rd for, so the Jets would say no.

Like Perreault but don't need or want him back with the Jets, definitely not trading a 3rd round pick for him either.

if that's all he does that'll be a fireable offense. He needs to blow it up. Wright, Bedard, Michkov all available next 2 years.

They actually don't. MIN is the last team needing winger, and they have no room. Minnesota has greenway and foligno playing 3rd line, and good young players in duhaime and then good player in bjustad playing on 4th line. They also have rem pit whose good. They also have Adam Beckman and Matt boldy and connor dewar. So, yeah Minnesota doesn't need him. Simple research will tell you MIN is the last team. They also have Frederick G who switches between 2nd and 4th line. Duhaime also switches between 2nd and 4th line. So Minnesota's depth @ w and flexibility is beyond crazy

I think there was a human dynamic going on where its hard for the employer to ask someone to take a 75%+ pay cut to play the same role so I doubt an offer was made. At the same time, I think Perreault saw the possibility of playing higher in the lineup in Montreal plus it is home. So, a bit from column A and a bit from column B.

i thought that Girard was a guy they wanted to move? Petry is definetly an upgrade short term at the VERY LEAST.... and Allen.....what would have happened the last 2 years with a capable back up goalie....

no girard is not on the move, he was never available,
And avs got injuried in the net, their goalies didnt fail them performance wise 2 years ago, injuries did. Allen would have got injured just as Francouz did as the back up when he got ran in his crease by perry

Petry sucks this year and he is 33 falling off a cliff if he doesnt bounce back. So no short term he is not an upgrade.

Lol no. You’re not going to get as much value this year for some of these players. For some you’re better off trading them in the off-season or at next years trade deadline.

Rushing through things like you suggest is how GMs get it all wrong. There are many opportunities to trade away players before the Bedard draft. You don’t need to do everything at this years trade deadline.
