Description
Based on what Jeff Marek said about Gallagher not wanting to be a part of a rebuild.

What's the cost? Obviously would have to take Barrie or Kassian back to make money work.

With Kassian back and 2-2,5 millions retained, we could expect either a first or a guy like Bourgault

Not at all. He was one of the highest scoring wingers before this season. If he doesn't bounce back in two years then yes, but in the meantime he's a valuable top 6 player.

People here have no clue what Gallagher is worth.
They care more about his age and contract than what he brings to the team, because players over 30 that cost $5M or more, never make substantial contributions to a team or win Stanley Cups. sarcasm
Nevermind that he's a perennial 30 goal scorer with an outstanding work ethic that makes his linemates better and drives opponents nuts, all with a smile on his face.

Reality is something like:
Bourgault or a 1st +
Lavoie or a 2nd +
Barrie (who can at least be flipped or fill a spot in the roster)

If Gallagher were available, the challenge would be including a C or RD prospect, as similar packages that included such, would be more interesting to Montreal.

Really?? Has Gallaghers value fallen off a cliff that I'm not aware of? If his cost is less than that I'm all over that if I'm KH.

Secondary to that, I think solving the 3C hole on EDM can happen by acquiring a top 6 winger and moving RNH to C.

His contract/injury history has diminished his value but he's by no means a cap dump. But I still wouldn't expext Bourgault +Barrie + a 1st

I would do that deal tbh. Not sure if I'm in the minority.

very fair assessment. i dont think the oilers have issues with going after relatively strong hard working wingers and giving them long term deals (hyman).
