well, at least you can admit that it's hilariously bad for the avs and they'd never consider it for a second.

Yeah because the Avs don’t want to be better they want to gift MTL a starting goalie a top pairing dman a 1st rd pick give MTL cap space all for a 34 yr old goalie that hasn’t played has a long term monster contract and has a losing record in the playoffs despite last years long run. Gee that makes a lot of sense. Only for MTL. Honestly if Price were so great why are MTL fans trying to dump him less than 6 months after a magical run?

Funny because Sakic (and Colorado's) last cup came with a 35 year old Roy.

What Avs fans don't realize is that they need an elite goalie to be serious contenders. Hell they need an elite goalie just to make the conference finals. When was the last time a league average goalie even made the SCF's? Championship teams are built from the net out not with elite forwards and an average goalie. The proof is in the pudding as they say. Look at the last 10 SCF teams what do they all have in common? Elite goalies on both sides. Tampa Vasilevsky, Montreal Price, Tampa Vasilevsky, Dallas Bishop, St Louis Binnington, Boston Rask, Vegas Fleury, Washington Holtby, Pittsburgh Murray, Nashville Rinne. I guess you could argue that Rask and Murray were league average or slightly above but they both played lights out those years as well. So if you think you can win solely with elite forwards and average goal tending the Avs will be the next perennial Leafs or Oilers just look where their elite forwards and average goal tending has gotten them, first or second round exits with no CF appearances. Good luck with that though.

When price invents a time machine to when he was an elite goalie then you can make these claims, over the last 4 years price has been a bottom 15 starter in the league . you gave to accept what he is now, especially making 10 m aav, hes not elite, hes mediocre to below average starter. And no a hot steak in the playoffs doesn’t do his play over the past 4 years

Even still you have to go back 3+ years to find 2 out of 10 goalies who were league average in the SCF. That is a huge gamble for the Avs, 10% chance at winning a cup with a league average goalie or 40-60% with an elite 34 year old 10.5 mil goalie for the next 5 years. I think Sakic takes the 34 year old 10.5 mil goalie and 40-60% chance at a cup.

price is not elite, he is barely even league average now over the past 4 years. Saying hes elite doesnt make his play elite

And did he win the cup? Nope, so like is said 2 out of 10 goalies we're league average but only 1 (Murray) 5 years ago actually won the cup. Hence the reason I said 10% chance of a league average goalie winning the cup.

Exactly what I am saying 2 out of the last 10 scf teams have been backstopped by a league average goalie so 20% chance another team can as well but only 1 has won the cup so 10% chance of another team doing it as well. The math isn't really that hard. If you want to increase your odds of getting to the SCF you have got to get an elite goalie to go with your elite forwards. Let's say Price increases the odds of the Avs making the SCF's to just 40% that is still much better than running with Keumper whose odds are 20%. Plus that gives them 40% for the next 5 years that is worth the price since you are not wasting any more time on MacKinnon or Landeskog like the Leafs are with Matthews and the Oilers are with McDavid.

Binnington isn’t elite, ffs he was in loan in the AHL in January when STL had nobody else to play. Bishop didn’t play for the Stars, who played the Avs in game 7 w/their 3rd string goal tender 3 AHL dmen in the line up and Landeskog out yet COL had the lead w/5 minutes left in that game. Holtby wasn’t even the starter at the beginning of the playoffs and they just turned to him in desperation after going down 2-0. The fact Murray AND Fleury won Cups w/PIT says more about PIT then being elite with Fleury having to be Murray’s back up. Rinne didn’t even win a Cup. But I will give you Vasilevsky and Rask.

Who is still in his worse day better than the 3 Leafs goalies combined, nope not that huge of a gamble when you consider the team he has had in front of him the last 5 years.

Huh, i thought this was about the habs and aves. Cant help yourself eh?
So bunched up undies aside, what's more likely. Kuemper bouncing back after a rough start or carey price not being a giant blunder like everyone but habs fans thinks?
