This isn’t a good trade for the isles. I’d rather have both 1st rd picks then Dahlin, the 2022 pick will likely be top 5 and the isles are better off drafting a high end forward.

It’s possible Dahlin figures things out eventually, but he has been awful and coaching has affected his development. He needs to be let loose and Trotz is not the coach thet willl let him do that. The isles fanbase would hate Dahlin

I would hate to give up on Rasmus, but this offer actually fills Buffalo needs, picks (five first or second round picks two consecutive years), RHD and forward.
With Beauvillier, Karmanos may consider moving one of the other LW for an additional pick.
Trotz just may be the HC that could bring out the best of Rasmus.
With how well Powers and Johnson are playing in college, and Samuelsson and Laaksonen are playing in Rochester, I could be temped to make this trade.
IMO it is a close decision as a Sabre fan, I could go pass and feel good, or make the trade and feel good.

Buffalo should not trade Dahlin unless its an overpayment, but I think Chara + Dahlin's situation is different. I think Dahlin will eventually figure it out, but he probably had the worst coach possible for his development (Krueger) and now he has an ideal coach to get that can get the most out of him. Trotz is not going to let him take risks which is what he needs to be able to do.
