yeah, the fit is fine, but regardless of what any of the advanced stats say, he is not being sold for this little.

Buffalo could have gotten a lot more for Olofsson, especially with retain.

Generally not for sale. And if someone is going to trade for him it’s going to involve a first round pick.

If the canes are really going to go for the cup this year, Olofsson is not going to be the solution. Nino as 3LW is perfect, but if Olofsson takes that spot, Nino is back in the top 6, and he is way better playing on our third line. If we are going for a winger, it would be a LW who could fit in nicely as a 2LW with a possibility of playing 1LW if need be. There are 3 players off the top of my head that the canes would likely go after before Olofsson that fill the bill they need. Gaudreau, Forsberg, and Fiala are all more likely trade candidates than Olofsson. Gaudreau probably is less likely, but the other 2 are possibilities.

IIRC the advanced stats are actually very much in his favor since Kruger left

Maybe Buffalo considers trading Olofsson because they will have three young forwards coming in next year but a low second and mid-3rd doesn't get it - you'd need to add Scott Morrow at the very least but it's most likely that the pieces just are not there for a good trade.

Ponomarev and a 2nd would be my offer. IIRC Morrow has some insane upside so probably isn't moved.

Morrow is projected to have better upside (in terms of underlying) than Makar taking the same path

yeah I agree Morrow has good potential, Ponomarev has potential too but if the reason Olofsson could be traded is an influx of forward talent, why would Buffalo trade a proven NHL scorer from forward for potential at forward -how does that help Buffalo? -I understand you not wanting to trade Morrow but he's the player not on your roster that would make Buffalo consider a trade - it's most likely that the pieces just are not there for a good trade.

Olofsson would not command a blue chip prospect like Morrow. Suzuki, Drury, Gunler, Bokk, maybe. My point was the thought to just add another middle 6 LW. It doesn't have to be Olofssn. Trying to say Olofsson would command Morrow though is a little ridiculous.

If you want a piece you think makes your team better you have to have a piece that makes Buffalo better - you want a roster player do you want to give up a roster player? no, then Morrow is the only non-roster player I would find to be of interest, if you want to stick to draft picks then you need a late first round pick in 2022 or a late first in 2023 plus a mid-round pick in either 2022 or2023 - but as I've written more than once I don't think we have a good trade fit here - maybe a three team deal

Olofsson isn't worth a 1st straight up. Morrow has upside to Cale Makar, would you trade Makar for olofsson? If your answer is yes, get your head checked. Morrow is untouchable short of like McDavid.

Yes he absolutely is worth a first straight up. If you don't believe that you shouldn't be posting a deal for him because that's absolutely ridiculous. What incentive do the sabres have to sell him for any less? I'm the furthest thing from a Sabres fan, too.
