If you read my first post, I said the difference wasn't a first. I would err on the side of the goaltender with more playoff experience however.

Allen should be worth a 2nd or a 3rd with the possibility of becoming a 2nd. The $2M in cap difference allows for an addition elsewhere vs Koskinen.
There may be better options, but Koskinen and his limited playoff experience is a risk for a team that really needs to go past the first round.

Everyone of these deals is an insane overpayment besides the chiarot one. Allen realistically gets you a 3rd round pick there’s never really been a huge return in the goalie market unless it’s a legit game changer in the trade and that’s definitely not what Jake Allen is

Koskinen is the backup in Edmonton, I have no idea why ppl think it's critical to upgrade that position when the backup rarely plays in the playoffs. In any case, I don't see anyone giving up a 2nd for Allen, who is a $3M backup who has a scant 29 games of playoff experience. I mean, MAF (162 playoff games) is probably on the market too...

FWIW, Koskinen has 77 games of playoff experience in the KHL.

Savard played over Foote, but that wouldn't work with chiarot since he's a lefty and tampa rarely plays lefties on the right side.

Plus they have bogo now so their right side depth isn't as bad as last year.

The fact is that Edmonton is currently going into the playoffs with two goaltenders that have 1 win apiece in 3 consecutive first round exits. That shouldn't inspire confidence and they should be examining every option.

Goaltending wasn't the issue last year. Tampa got swept by Columbus in the first round a few years ago, Vasilevskiy had zero wins but he wasn't the issue. They analyzed the issue and fixed it.
