Description
I hate to let go of Toffoli, but considering his production, cap hit, and age, I think this is a very good deal for the rangers.
I would have liked to acquire a few more 2nd rd picks as well, but 4 first rd picks should be a very very good start in attaining high end talent that can help this team over the next decade. only one of those picks will be in the top 5 (Habs own pick).
Transactions
1.
MTL
  1. Koskinen, Mikko
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (EDM)
Détails additionnels:
Oilers get rid of Koskinen and get a decent 1b in return that is at a very very good cap hit.
2.
MTL
  1. Dumont, Gabriel
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (TBL)
Détails additionnels:
Consdering the Bolts traded a 1st for Savard, I'm sure they'd be willing to trade a 1st for a player who is much much better than Chiarot.
TBL
  1. Chiarot, Ben (1 750 000 $ retained)
3.
MTL
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (WPG)
VAN
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
Détails additionnels:
Van's PK is trash. Would they consider a low cost PK who is an RFA after this year?
4.
5.

  1. Galloway, Tyson [Liste de réserve]
  2. Sundqvist, Oskar

Yeah no mikko literally has better numbers than allen this year and only has one year left on his deal there is no reason to give up a first

i think your GM would do it if he wants to win a round. comparing Allens numbers is kinda funny considering habs are bottom 5 and oilers are top 5. put koskinen on the habs, and he'd be a healthy scratch. Allen has played some amazing hockey, its just the team in front of him is trash.

I think Habs fans might just be the worst in the league at player valuations. Nobody is giving up a 1st just to downgrade at a critical position.

Fair but your basically assuming allen will play like a first round level talent on edmonton and I don't think giving up first round picks based off an assumption that allen will play better is the best move

Chiarot can play both sides, i dont see tampa having interest in him either, but ya he would find a spot on the right side for sure.

Ya thats fair when looking at Allen's numbers, but not like edmonton is some defensive powerhouse either so not sure that train of thought works in this case.

That's just a completely false narrative: Koskinen has faced more shots/60, more xGA/60 and more high danger shots/60 than Allen this year. His average shot distance is also much closer than Allen's.

not as much as i've watch chiarot play, would imagine that could be reversed as well or are you watching every habs game also? Early trade lists have Chiarot as the top dman available, fully get that tampa probably doesnt need to add to their team as they are stacked, but yes Chiarot would have a spot in your top 6.

while on the same site, you can see that Allen's numbers, despite being on a horrible horrible team, are just the same as koskinen. now this is koskinen's numbers on one of the best teams in the leagues, and he's in teh same category as allen. imagine flipping that and look what allen could do in that situation. oilers fans are building a false narrative that this goaltending group can get them deep. imo they wont even get past the 2nd rd with this duo. at least allen would help you in that.

edmonton is not one of the best TEAMS in the league, they have a solid record, but their success is because they have two of the top players in the world, They are not strong defensively by any means.

Its tippets fault man he isn't a good coach by any means he has done nothing to help us Nurse is an all star, bouchard basically is an all-star at this point and broberg is playing like a top 4 d-man. Ceci has been fine as well not good by any means but he has been fine (same with russell). Its just keith and barrie who are absolute dog sh** barrie is basically and winger and keith should just retire. If we play these lines:

Nurse-Bouchard
Broberg-Ceci
Russell-Barrie

Then our d-core would be fine

Barely better numbers while playing on a significantly better team.

Allen: .907 with a 3.01 GAA
Koskinen: .911 with a 2.97 GAA

I'm not saying the difference is a 1st round pick, but there's more than enough reason to consider Allen as an upgrade. He's cheaper and has playoff experience as well, while he will almost undoubtedly perform better than Koskinen given the same conditions.
