Brock boeser and a bunch of nothing doesn't get you fiala, much less greenway, . Minnesota will keep both players and Vancouver can keep boeser! This Boeser being from MIN isn't something any wild fans care about. fiala is better than boeser along with cheap and not injury prone

Have you ever considered that maybe cap gymnastics are multi-dimensional. Factors of individual player-fit and systemic fit

Hronek deal is bad. It would take the 2nd just to dump Myers and that contract, let alone getting an asset.

Hronek is young playing well and is coveted because he is a good RHD.

No chance Yzerman take Myers for only a 2nd even at 4M

Myers is a better defenseman than everyone thinks he is, his contract isn't as outrageous as anyone thinks

Ottawa is projected to have 29.8 million in cap space for next season.

    There's nothing multi-dimensional about it.

No cap gymnastics in play here for Ottawa.

Boeser's injury history isn't that concerning, he's always managed to come back from them thus far, and I'd like to know what non-Canucks and non-Wild fans think, because both of those parties have obvious reasons for feeling biased

You got it. So here is the thing, the focal point or linchpin when it comes to Myers's game is the fact that he is a big tall defenseman, but he is not primarily a defensive defenseman considering his size. I think this unique dichotomy about him as a player is really off-putting to people, since being a defenseman is normally regarded as a role suited for a bigger-body. What Myers does do well is carrying the puck, entering the offensive zone, and holding the blueline in the O-zone, which is still a more sizeable tool set than you can get from your typical average defenseman. Myers certainly has his warts defensively, sometimes he tries to make aggressive pinches and gets caught, but he is by no means a defensive liability the way guys like Tyson Barrie, Tony DeAngelo, and Shayne Gostisbehere are. He can still block shots and win puck battles in the defensive zone

I know last year was rough for Myers, but he was actually pretty good in his first season with Vancouver and he actually has had some noticeably good games this season, in fact, he's done really well playing alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who'd of thought eh? Myers usually manages to put up respectable offensive numbers, and seeing how he's playing with OEL, it turns out he can indeed play a matchup role as long as he doesn't have to be the primary defensive conscience on a pairing, because he obviously isn't equipped to carry the defensive load on a pairing, especially in a top 4 spot

I think all in all, Myers is an above average offensive defenseman who can play on any pairing as long as his partner is good defensively. Yeah, his contract maybe looks a bit rich for what he brings, but at least he is not being paid as much as most of the ELITE offensive D-man in the league, and that is why I don't view Myers as a negative asset. Thank you

I get your eye test angle, but this is still the most recent analytical breakdown I’ve seen of his game: https://mobile.twitter.com/jfreshhockey/status/1370975710572126208

And I have a hard time believing in him as an above-average “offensive” D-Man who has an 0-6-6 line in 26 games. That’s an equal point output, and lesser goal output than, say, Micheal Del Zotto, who is getting paid $2M. The past two years have had an equal offensive output from him - 21 points. 0-6-6 are the kinds of numbers that 7th D-Men put up by this point in the season.

The only market for Myers is really on a bad contract for bad contract deal. And I don’t see DET, flush with cap space for the next several years, as a team to trade Hronek for the sake of cutting costs.

I don't just look at Myers's offensive output, that's certainly part of it, but certainly not the whole picture. Myers doesn't get powerplay time, although he is more than capable of playing on a 2nd unit, but if you look at his production over his first two seasons with Vancouver, it's much higher than 7th/8th caliber level, and as for Del Zotto, he's on a weaker team getting more opportunity. Myers would be getting scratched if he was as bad as people say he is, but he isn't. He hasn't even been put on waivers, so we can't say for sure that he would clear either

another Jackets fan here: Yeah, Doppl's right, Pearson isn't someone we need. Wingers are not a need right now (we have too many that want NHL playing time), and if his stats are anything to go by, he's pretty overpaid. He's got a full NTC for this year, and i'm not sure if he'd waive for Columbus.

I don't think Pearson is overpaid, he's a very capable 30-40 point player
