if the islanders' pick is top 5, i wouldn't trade it for any player they could reasonably acquire.

At this point Vancouver will still be bad ... But DAMN I would like to see Detroit with Horvat in the roster

Boeser is proven, Wahlstrom is not. Canucks wouldn’t and shouldn’t do this either. Rathbone also looks like he’s going to be a solid top 4 LHD but that’s not what the NYI need right? Lol

The hidden value in this trade is Rathbone. Isles fans don't seem to be aware he is very talented. Obviously the Canucks would have to do this to have a chance at a top 10 pick.

even if it's top 10 i'd be really hesitant to give it away. for a team with no prospects the idea of getting one of the top 10 guys in this draft is really really appealing. if it ended up being more around the top 15 range i'd consider it. the canucks would probably also have to take josh bailey or maybe varlamov to make the cap work tho and idk if that's possible on their side.

I think with myers in the Horvat trade for Hronek works as myers would at least have a roster spot. But in this case he is a 6M press box guy so it doesn't really make much sense for Detroit to add in myers unless the value is really good. Vrana and two seconds is probably the value for Horvat or close too. In this case myers is a straight cap dump and brings alot of negative value. I also wouldn't really want to trade Lindstrom either as he is a really steady defender and won't cost them much down the stretch.

Boeser hasn’t been the same since his injury. Wahlstrom has 3 more goals than Boeser this season despite playing 3rd line minutes. The early returns are great and he’s cost controlled, Boeser is going to want at least 7.5 mill and he might not live up to that contract.

I’d rather play Robin Salo at 2LD than Rathbone.

If this is a contenders pick, its a fair trade. Islanders would have to have some noteworthy protection on this deal for it to work for them.

Myers is not that bad. He is a 4/5 D who is fine when he isn't overplayed. Yes he is overpaid, but he is absolutely 100% not a pressbox guy. He'd be getting 3-3.5m on today's market. I do agree that there's some negative TRADE value here due to that contract, but he himself is not a negative asset on the ice like a Vlasic or Zaitsev.

In Detroit he would be a press box guy. He might steal some games from Lindstrom but really with Seider, Hronek and Lindstrom in the fold, he sits in the press box. I've done a couple trades with Horvat and myers for Hronek +, that's where he actually has value. In this trade he has negative value for Detroit even though he may not have negative value as a whole. So in order for Detroit to take on his deal with the current roster they have now, they would have to be compensated substantially.

Buffalo got a late 1st and a G prospect for similar level player Sam Reinhart.

I don't think the distance between Horvat and Vrána is 2 2nd round picks and a cap dump.
