Still think they should’ve found a way to move someone else and keep him. Most of the wingers aren’t high impact scorers and having one less of them is less of a detriment than losing Toews imo. Scoring would still be an issue, but defense is this teams strength anyway.

Trotz wanted to keep Leddy over Toews because of age and experience . Isles had offers for Leddy 2 years ago.

They could of traded Leddy with a pick, They could of send Hickey and Komarov in separate deals , even though it was covid and teams didn't want to spend money they should of did something. Even giving up a first round pick that year was worth but no we spent it on a rental of Palmieri. I said that day when Toews was traded that it haunt the isles long term, disappointing . Could of had the top 4 defense in the league but Lou had to listen to Trotz.

Yeah I think that was a mistake. Leddy may have had more experience, but Toews was very good and still several years younger. They botched the situation imo.

If Seattle is willing to move on from Vince Dunn I would be willing to move Pageau for Dunn in the offseason and put Raty or if the isles draft a center in this upcoming draft at 3C.

The isles didn’t need a legitimate top 4 defenseman, they just needed a D who was good enough to allow Pelech and Pulock to play together.
