Description

I know we're only twenty-something games in, but this season's a wash.

Best move is to get what value you can for expiring contracts. Motte is a poor man's Barclay Goodrow, and teams know guys like that help them win in the playoffs. Edmonton gets a reliable 1B goalie and some badly-needed D depth.

I like Boeser, but we have prospects ready to replace him within a year or two. What we don't have is a long-term partner for Hughes. I think Dumba would be a great fit. Boeser's been linked to Minny before and they could use a top-six forward.

With all the newly-emptied roster spots, Green's replacement can finally give the kids some ice time.

I'd personally rather re-sign Motte, and the Minny trade looks a bit rich for Vancouver. Dumba still has pretty substantial value, I think you only need to add a 2nd or a 3rd along with him

If Motte is willing to re-sign then absolutely do that, just figured we'd have done that already if he was. Only reason I added a 1st is cause Dumba is a UFA soon while Boeser is still an RFA, could maybe make it a conditional pick based on if Dumba re-signs.

That could work too I guess. I think they are waiting until the new year to re-sign Motte just because he missed training camp needing to recover from off-season surgery. I think they are probably taking some time to marinate on how much term to give him

Minnesota wouldn't do this trade at all! Wild don't need wingers and aren't trading dumba. Dumba's value is a top 6c
