I hate it just because I see so much potential in Dobson, and his offensive talents will be wasted behind Hughes. It's an outstanding deal for the Canucks, and actually pretty good for the Islanders, cause they need scoring.

But I can't see the Islanders coming back and making the playoffs, so it's a waste of a first rounder IMO

True, but I don't think Dobson's talents will get wasted behind Hughes since he plays the right side

I guess I see it as NYI’s scoring has cratered this year. Next year they’d have Miller at a very reasonable 2.6 million cap hit for 22-23 and if it works they can try to extend him and if it doesn’t they sell him by the 2023 trade deadline.

Doesn't matter when it comes to PP time. Dobson needs to score points to be a top tier D man. Like Hughes, his D isn't strong enough. And Hughes will the the 1A guy for the next 7 years. They need to get a shut down guy to play with him as a first priority

It's not a bad deal by any means. Def hits both teams needs. I def see Miller on the wing with Barzal and Lee as a first line
