Montreal will not be able to buy out his contract, as it will way heavy on them for many years. They may retain or take back a bad contract, should they even consider moving him.

i would have thought the same up until the wild bought out suter. it's best to just rip off that bandaid and move on. habs aren't doing anything the next few years anyway.

That’s about the only way I could envision Price in COL, but that is a monster contract to eat.

looking at price’s buyout, i’d think the habs would rather retain half his salary to move him as opposed to buying him out. they basically still have to keep his full cap hit for the four years left on his deal.

Yes that’s true. As I was typing that I actually thought of Minnesota. Those are two monstrous contracts that are going to way heavily on them.
