The Oilers can't afford Carey Price, even if Montreal holds 50% of his cap hit. Edmonton will remain tight against the salary cap next summer, and they have to sign Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, and McLeod, and will still need 5 more players to fill out the remainder their roster. A $5M+ goaltender is not feasible until Keith's contract expires, and it may remain tough to do so then, that's when Evan Bouchard will need a new contract.
The man is a legend, but even when you disregard age, injuries, recent challenges, declining play, and term remaining on his contract, Carey Price does not look like a fit for Edmonton.
