He's never been placed on waivers before.

The problem is DJ likes Zaitsev for some reason. I would be perfectly happy paying Zaitsev 4.5mil to ride the bus in Belleville but that isn’t going to happen while we own his rights, at least not on this contract, so the best case we can hope for is him getting dumped.

I'd dump him on waivers or for future considerations.

No reason for Ottawa to spend assets.
