I feel like they actually would be right there, since they take into account whether any in-game discipline was handed out when they hand down fines/suspensions. McDavid had already gotten a game misconduct for boarding, just give him the fine and move on. Pionk and Spezza were both not penalized for their hits, I could see why a suspension in their cases would make more sense.

Of course not, that was just a missed call, nobody was injured. It wasn't a dirty hit so much as a completely illegal play that the refs missed (because NHL refs STINK)

Bergevin isn't a bad GM, he just wasn't more than adequate in Montreal, especially at drafting. I'll bet he's learned some lessons and would do good on a team with less pressure not to rebuild

Off the top of my head the only team that drafted less NHLers than the Canadiens since 2005 is the Canucks, and that's with a lot more top 10 picks. So he's an improvement I guess?
