I mean he’s outscoring all of them by a healthy margin with only 1-2 extra games played on Landy/Rant/Makar (6-11 points ahead) and is even slightly ahead of MacKinnon’s points per game pace. And obviously Bura, Newhook, etc. aren’t even close, and aren’t better than him anyway. If it was so easy then anyone could do it, I don’t think you can take this away from him being completely dominant right now.

No supplemental discipline for Foligno for leaving the bench to engage in a fight. I'm sure plenty of Leaf fans won't like it, but it's the right decision.

Agreed. He got penalized for it, that's enough, it's not suspension worthy.

I mean, it would be if the circumstances were different, but not in this case, imo. I'm not sure of the official wording of the rule here, but to me there are 2 factors that keep this from resulting in the automatic 10 game suspension: the fact that nobody had subbed in for Foligno yet (you're at perfectly liberty to send the same guy who left the ice right back out if you want) and at the time Foligno stepped onto the ice, if my memory serves, the whistle hadn't gone yet. If either of those things had happened, I think it's pretty cut and dry and he'd be getting his 10 games, but the way it stands I don't think anything illegal took place as far as Foligno entering the play..

2009: Louis Leblanc (18) - WHO lmao
2010: Jarred Tinordi (22) - L
2011: Nathan Beaulieu (17) - meh, decent ig but still L
2012: Alex Galchenyuk (3) - oooof, L (messy/mishandled?)
2013: Michael McCarron (25) - L
2014: Nikita Scherbak (26) - WHO lmao
2015: Noah Juulsen (26) - not looking too hot
2016: Mikhail Sergachev (9) - great player but traded
2017: Ryan Poehling (27) - needs more time but meeeeh
2018: Jesperi Kotkaniemi (3) - needs more time but was rushed

2019,2020 - Caufield (15)(solid), Guhle (16)(solid) but too soon

Honourable Mention:
2021: Logan Mailloux (31) - massive L

This is where I start if I’m Gorton. Scouting/ Draft and Development. MB made some good moves and trades but this is hard to defend. Gorton can right this ship starting here in 2022.

Galchenyuk was good on the Habs and filled a need but being hated by the coach and having stupidly high expectations don’t help, Poehling looks good and Kotkaniemi is still good even though we rushed him and Carolina puts him at 4c

Yeah that’s why I added the “mishandled?” for AG, it wasn’t his fault but it also wasn’t “not” his fault. Same with management and coaching; they didn’t screw it up entirely but had a hand obviously. “Messy”. But he clearly didn’t live up to his potential which I believe was mishandling on both parties (as I think handled correctly he would have but as I said not a full blame and too many ifs and buts etc).

Kk was rushed; I’ll never not stand by that argument. If he wasnt rushed KK would be miles better than he is today. Imo completely the habs fault. Carolina has a log jam, I could see him getting more time as the year goes on but it was also a purposefully troll offer sheet.

Poehling looks alright but I think he’ll land his ceiling at a 3rd line/ 3C (but needs more time and I could be wrong)

Friendly reminder that it even though it was Timmins who had the final say on drafting, it was actually the scouts who said they should draft these players. You can't fix the system without firing everybody trash and keeping the few good ones.

True but at the same time as a GM; it is your responsibility to manage and create the team. So Gorton definitely needs to clean out and manage a better scouting and development team, but at the same time Marc B can’t hide behind the “well I just said the pick” because I do believe he’s not drafting Logan Maillioux (example) based on recommendation alone because he wanted that player even with all the you know what and the recommendations.

More so you can’t use that as excuse because as the GM you basically ARE the team. You make and put together the roster you want the team to become/ be. Like I can’t say; it’s not Doug Wilson’s fault that the Vlasic contract looks terrible. Because yes he signed it in good faith, and no one foresaw Vlasic falling off an absolute cliff (which he seems to have a decent game here and there). It’s still on the GM. Maybe bad luck for Wilson but still. And same for the Habs; poor scouting team sure, but you made the picks and you also have say on building a scouting team so if his scouting team is **** he should be fixing that and he didn’t.

Drafting wasn't part of MB's role. That was Timmin's main role as assistant GM. GM's aren't the only ones who run the team.

If you go and watch the Montreal draft videos, there are multiple times where MB asks Timmins if he can trade the pick and Timmins says "no, we are picking *this guy*". Bergevin was the one who hired Timmins and allowed him to do that, but he didn't fail at drafting the players, he failed at signing the wrong guy to pick those players.

So Marc hired the guy who sucks and didn’t fix it even with multiple failures? I like him as a GM but that is still entirely your fault if the guy you hired blows it, as the Gm you take that responsibility on. Yeah it’s not “your direct fault” but it’s still your fault in terms of responsibility and you’re responsible for that branch under you. Things went poorly under his supervision.

So I stand by that this is still your fault as a GM. Who cares what he says if you look at the track record. You’re the head of the snake.

On the topic of Gorton, I've always kind of thought that his time with the Ranger's was a bit overrated. Not that he's a bad GM or anything, just that some favorable things happened for him that maybe leads to his perception being a bit more flattering than reality BUT, can we talk about the fact that this guy basically built what we came to know as the Boston Bruins in about 3 & 1/2 months.

From the end of March of 2006 to mid-July of the same year, Gorton served as interim GM of the Bruins. During that time he oversaw a draft which produced Phil Kessel (I hear they later flipped him for decent return), Milan Lucic, and Brad Marchand, signed free agents Marc Savard and some Guy named Zadeno Chaira or something, and just for sh*ts and giggles he decided to get a trade in there and called up John Ferguson Jr to make a goalie swap that would go on to haunt Leaf fans to this day (Rask for Raycroft for those who don't know).

Way to make the most of your time.

I will never understand why people think the Habs messed Galchenyuk? It's the only team he had something close to "success" with & by far. The downfall his on him & his lack of will
