Description
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2qbZxu0FeM&t=2445s Watch their most recent podcast and you'll understand this lineup and changes.

1. Move on from Maurice, the second half of last season jets completely collapsed and now its happening again, pp and pk have fallen apart ever since 55, and 26 came back into the top 6. Maurice has been here for 8 years now with only 1 deep playoff run and a whole lot of disappointment. He keeps going back to the 81-55-26 line with them logging big minutes and it's not working anymore. 81-80-71 was a lot more effective in a 2-way game. As well Copp at center with Ehlers was better and place 55 back on the wing as it makes a new dynamic and finally accepts wheeler cant log top 6 minutes anymore.
- I would like to see Dave Lowry as head coach for the remainder of the season then re-evaluate in the offseason.

2. Wheeler will be hard to move but Jeff Hamilton brought up the PLD was Scheifele argument and how right now PLD is the 1c that will be signed here long term so with there only being 2 years on his contract will Scheifele stay at a reasonable price or do jets move him for something different. And this comes up from his recent play and attitude as well.

I think it maybe time to move on from Maurice, but I think has to be for a Bruce Boudreau type coach or maybe a John Tortorella ( could imagine that reunion with PLD) the point is it needs to be a veteran coach that can push them over the top. I like at this team and I see a 3 year window, were they should consider them self not only a playoff of team but a contender. I think a new coach might be required for this.

As for trades I really think they need to re-configure that bottom 6, Adam Lowry for me is the only one I would look to keep, assuming wheeler is in your top 6, need to add a bit of a different image to create a different identity.

Lowry has 4 points in 22 games, he's the problem in the bottom six and has been for years.

I don't think they are going to move on from Maurice mid-season. It would take missing the playoffs or a lopsided first round exit before Cheveldayoff would make (and Chipman approve) a coaching change.

Its the final year of his contract and if they continue their poor play questions will be asked

Indeed questions will be asked from the outside, but management/ownership won't listen. It is just the way they do business. Capfriendly has Maurice's contract ending after the 22-23 season.

This is that last guaranteed year. He has 1 year option where they decide if he should stay or not.

I think having a lame duck coach hurts a team. You need to either be committed to the guy long term, or move on. It’s time to move on anyways, he’s had 8 years and only got one solid playoff run. Need a new face and voice. Every coach has a shelf life.

I agree. I just think True North waits until the offseason to pull the plug or extend him so he isn't a lame duck.

It’s not like he has another year. It’s not up to him. It’s a team option. He’s already a lame duck at this point.

I think they are going to let him finish the season, they've done it before with him in the final year of his previous contract.

One window where they could bring someone in would be the Olympic break, but I doubt they do that.

I wonder if Jamie Kompon is being groomed to be Paul Maurice's successor, as the Jets promoted him to associate head coach in 2018. He is away from the team now, but apparently he is still involved with the team.
