I'd do it because we have Power coming in next year - I can live with a left side of Power, Sameulsson, Bryson and Ryan Johnson - a more complete trade might be Dahlin and Mittelstadt for Byfield and Clark

This would be a huge mistake. I mean, you can't count on Owen Power as your only hope and give him minutes first pair. Are the examples of Myers, Risto and now Dahlin not indicative for you? Then Power, due to his age and inexperience, will play a couple of terrible games and this fan base will expel him from the city. Bryson looked good, but he is not a defender of the first pair, he does not even have any offensive play, Jokiharju is also not a defender of the first pair, and yesterday he played no better than Dahlin, it seems to me that Jokiharju is overestimated and they expect from him what he cannot give, and he also has no offensive play. If they are going to trade Dahlin, then it should be a more experienced defender as a base with a 3-5 year contract, guys like Provorov or Chychrun, or some young RD like Clarke or Drysdale, but I'm sure that Los Angeles and Ducks will not be interested in trading Clarke and Drysdale.

I like Dahlin I still think he'll be a very high quality D-man but I'd also like to improve the Sabres size deficit, I don't think Byfield is as talented as Eichel I tend to think of him as a plus Dubois maybe a 60-70 pt guy who doesn't get pushed around too much and is a load for the other team.

I don't think Los Angeles will trade Byfield or Clarke for Dahlin. They can suggest Turcotte, but I'm not interested in that. We have a lot of good young forwards, including in the center. We also have Quinn, Peterka and Krebs in Rochester and I expect them to be in Buffalo next season. I don't want to give up Dahlin so early because he definitely has talent and huge potential, but he needs stability and time and we don't have experienced defenders right now who can eat huge minutes. It would be a big mistake to hope for Power at such an early age that he can immediately become a top pair defender. We have already gone through this more than once.

I'd only trade Dahlin for Byfield not Turcotte

I would not, because I am satisfied with our young centers, they are developing and progressing. As I said, if we trade Dahlin this should be for the young defender. We literally have no one on RD right now, and I don't consider Jokiharju to be a first pair player.

You can find good D-man as UFA or in trades but 1Cs are hard to find past top 5 picks, now if you want say Byfield as yet has done nothing in the NHL and looked OK in the AHL but did not dominate those would be fair points.

Find it in UFA and have him go to Buffalo? He also won't have ELC. I'm not so passionate about Byfield, although it definitely has the potential to become 1C. I’m just happy with the development of our young players and would not like to change anything, much less abandon Dahlin at this stage. Dahlin and Power may need mentors, but that's Adams' job. Also, Adams urgently needs to look for a goalie, because defeats do not benefit the team, especially the young players, and our attack is in perfect order, and we have not yet seen Mittelstadt, Tuch, Quinn, Krebs and Peterka this season.
